This was a brilliant beer café but is unfortunately now closed in Bedale, it is missed as it was great to catch up with people in a friendly small environment

Been here a few times for beers with old work friends, good beer, great atmosphere, a lovely little spot next to river to chill out. New owners have built a lovely decking area to relax outside.

Looking at the list of attractions in Bedale I went looking for the Bridge Gallery and the Hemelvaart Bier Cafe. Having failed to find the first, I came to the Hemelvaart to discover that it is no longer a bier cafe and has transformed itself into the Bridge Gallery, which is a small place for a gallery but absolutely full... We are lucky to have this little gem on our doorstep. We initially visited shortly after the cafe opened and weren't bowled over by it, however after hearing great things by friends and neighbours we decided to give it a second chance and weren't disappointed! The staff clearly know their beer and it's a great friendly atmosphere. The hot chocolate... More

Lovely little restaurant / pub. The staffs knowledge of beers is second to none. They were very helpful and helped to suggest beers that I would not normally go for! Excellent place!

We visited the beer cafe because my husband and brother in law love their beers and there is indeed a great selection. We liked the quirky interior but sat outside as we had our dog with us. There was a lovely touch when the man behind the bar, entirely unprompted, brought out a dish of water and a bone (also... More

An absolute gem, small but beautiful. If you are staying locally this cafe is just near the railway station. Check the opening hours as they are restricted but the beers are varied and there are some crackers, the pies are scrummy and the Mason's gin (yes Yorkshire gin can be purchased from the distillers over the road) is a treat!!!... Stopped here on the way home from the forbidden corner after finding there were no suitable places for dining with kids on the high street. They were so welcoming adapted the menu to suit us and provided fantastic food, the range of beers is stunning but if you want something truly special try the hot chocolate. It was a magical... I have been here a couple of times now, the beer selection is amazing for fans of a good ale, great selection from Belgium. The staff are very friendly, had one of their excellent selection of pies, really superb quality.

Our good friends, local. And if I lived in the area it would be mine too!!! As I am a man of few words - here are a few..... Brilliant, different, interesting, friendly, fun, novel, enjoyable, tasty. This is a wonderful bier café, with a fantastic selection of international lagers.... please support this great bar.

Thank MStJB
