About
Aroma River Spa, a world-class spa with local prices, is located at Mutiara Beach Resort, on Bintan Island's east coast. The spa can be visited either as a day trip out of Singapore, as a half-day excursion from any of the Bintan hotels, or by just walking-in. The spa's natural setting is rather unique, built on stilts in a lush mangrove river, with direct access to its own private white sandy beach. After the treatment, spa guests have the possibility of enjoying a tasty local meal at the open air restaurant and some souvenirs shopping at the spa boutique. Aroma River Spa prefers the Taman Sari natural indonesian products. Two-way land transfers can be arranged upon request. Open every day, 10am till 6pm, advance reservation is recommended.

An experience we will remember forever! We were staying at another hotel on the island so booked the Half Day Spa tour. A super nice driver picked us up, we took the little canoe ride to the spa (which is a series of huts on stilts in the water - so cool), had excellent 90 minute massages, had lunch (pizza was delicious) and were dropped back at the hotel. So quaint, remote and special. Highly recommend!

A tranquil and peaceful spot to unwind form the craziness of urban life.
To hear the waves and the crickets outside while lying on a massage table, reminded me of a Singapore of yesteryear.
I went there in early February, during the Corvid19 kerfuffle. It felt safe and it completely relaxed my body and spirit.
I took the maximum massage of 75 minutes, everyday over the three days I was there. And it was, in a word, wonderful. Competent hands with good quality oils. The treatment room was on stils over a river that slowly flowed into the sea. Simple yet it had everything you need to be comfortable.
The only downside is the humidity. But then, where in the tropics isn't it humid? At least at the river spa, you are stripped down to the minimum. After the massage starts, even the humidity won't be a bother.
The treatments was decently priced, a great deal less than what you find in Bintan Resorts. What a hidden gem.
All in all, more than good value for money. I will be back.

I was living at the resort and had 2 massages here. The place was in a peaceful location right in the midst of nature which is more than anything one can ask for. The staff were well spoken and patient with explaining the various packages, offering suggestions when requested etc. It was such a relaxing experience that I dozed off on both occasions! Highly recommended.

Five of us stayed in Bintan Nirwana last weekend and we tried Aroma day spa on the way back to Singapore. I made a reservation a couple of days in advance and all the arrangement and qualitity of services was excellent, and the price was cheaper than the one from hotel or from Singapore. We go to Bintan quite often as it's just an hour travel from Singapore. This was the first time that I tried massage outside of hotel in Bintan and I (and my friends) really liked. I guess we would go again!

It is just wonderful to have a massage in the room located in the nature.
We took a package which included picking up from our hotel. You need to email them for a quote. But if you are staying in their resort, attached is the prices.
The massage was good, ladies are experienced.

Stepping into this spa, the impression was one of a well run establishment. The guy who checked us in was polite and well spoken. But thereafter the experience didn't match up- masseuses were whispering and chatting with each other, a lot of washing of apparatus, clanging and noise while preparations were made to the masks etc, music was way too loud and worse, the scrub and body masks were made cold so I jumped and squealed at the total discomfort while the masseuse thought it funny and offered no remedy till I made her remix mask with warm water. The massage technique was only so so. These small missing touches made the overall experience amateur and a lot more training is needed if this spa wants to be one that leaves a memorable experience.

dear July guest
thank you very much for taking the time to give us your feedback
we welcome comments & suggestions as a valuable way of improving our service quality
through the guest comments form you filled in at our spa after your visit, we were able to debrief the therapists who performed your treatment
our spa management has found that your comments are reasonable... please accept our sincere apologies for giving you a spa experience that is below our standard
we opened our spa 10 years ago, and we pride ourselves for providing world quality treatments in a pleasant and professional environment
your comments will allow us to ensure this is indeed what our guests are experiencing
1. chatting & noise in the room: we have briefed our therapists accordingly, to prevent this from happening again
2. cold scrub & mask: because of our tropical environment, we found that most of our guests are asking for the products to be applied cool; however, following your feedback, we will ensure that our standard operating practice offers our guests the choice of warm or cool
3. massage not up to expectations: here we have to say that massage techniques are often a matter of personal preferences; however we will retrain these therapists, to ensure their massage technique is up to our usually well liked traditional Javanese standard
we would love welcoming you again soon!
best regards
Yustina H.

My husband and I took the Detox Day Trip package which included 2-way land transfer from our resort (an hour away), a satisfying lunch set, a massage and spa session and some free time to explore around!
Marc was very patient with our questions and replied my many emails promptly. The driver they engaged to come fetch us from Indorent was very polite and shared some fun facts about Bintan along the way.
We had a 2 hour spa session: body scrub and an-oil based massage and got to choose the scrub and massage oil of our choice from so many options. It was a very relaxing and surreal experience to be enjoying a spa session from inside a floating hut (it looks almost like a mini tree house) and hearing birds and crickets chirping from outside the window. The massage itself was great as well. Lunch was a delicious traditional Indonesian meal (ayam penyet) with a fresh coconut served right after the spa session! Everything was planned perfectly and we barely had to wait for anything.
The entire area (Mutiara Beach Resort & Aroma River Spa) is a great one-day trip for city folks like us! :) You must check out the awesome beach that is right in front of the Mutiara Beach Resort - one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen in Bintan.

Don't expect luxury, but back to the basis in life... no air-conditioning, no fan, take a very short sampan ride, walk thru wooden planks, go into a hut looking into the woods, changing behind curtain, being massaged while insects buzzed around your ears, showering behind curtain and the water draining into the river below you......
This is Aroma River Spa. The De-stress River package I took up, consist of a 105 minutes body scrub and
massage. I was pampered under the soothing hands of Ida, who later showed us how to make a ketupat with ribbons.
Your simple lunch, rice with sambal chicken and fresh coconut is served under a shaded hut with grass and sand under your feet. Bring your mozzy spray or pad if you are prone to bites.
If you enjoy this type of experience, go try them out. Otherwise you'll need to consider the 50 mins ride from BBT ferry terminal, and more than S$80 after adding the ++ . But thumbs up to Marc and the staff for their service.

Dear March Guest
Thank you very much for visiting us, and for taking the time to write a fair review. We are always happy to receive the feedback from our river spa guests, as this provides us with a great opportunity to get even better!
You have well understood our unique concept of natural simplicity, this is what makes our place different from the standard spa experience. It also provides an insight into the traditional way of living in Bintan, far from the luxury resort hotels where most of our day trip visitors are staying.
Nature comes as a whole, sometimes with unexpected guests like a fast squirrel, a curious monkey or the odd flying insects. We are however fogging the premises regularly, in order to keep the flying pest under control.
As some of our spa visitors were asking for a better ventilation, we are now in the process of installing silent ceiling fans. The first one is already cooling our VIP room, fans for the other rooms will be next, within a couple of weeks.
At this point, the shower water is still draining into the river, but this is also scheduled for an improvement soon. In the meantime you may be interested to know that our spa products are all natural and as such are biodegradable.
Our lunch, with as drink a fresh coconut plucked from our own trees, is a popular item after the spa treatment. Our guests get to choose from a comprehensive menu that includes Indonesian and Western fares, vegetarian options and wood-fired pizzas!
Our tour packages include two-way land transfers from all Bintan hotels or any of the Bintan ferry terminals, a 105-minutes spa treatment with body scrub & full body massage, lunch and time to relax with selected activities. Group discounts are available.
We very much look forward to your next visit!

We stayed at Aroma Day Spa many years ago and always returned due to annual business travels in Singapore.
The place is now called „Aroma River Spa“ which is – in my opinion - a better name because it sums it up pretty much perfectly.
The romantic private overwater bungalows for treatments are located on a river right next to the beach, but you feel like in the deepest jungle. Surrounded by Rain Forrest and Mangroves. I personally loved it when it was raining. First of all there is nothing better to do than geting some treatments and pamper yourself, but also the atmosphere under the cozy roofs to listen to the rain and the exotic sounds out there.
We do plan another trip in 2016 and I cant wait to test the Pizzas they now offer. (I have been told). It must be a real „Italian Style“ pizza oven.
Highly recommended to feel and experience the real indonesian lifestyle.
Not a 5* hotel/Spa but thats what it makes it charming. Not beeing perfect sometimes makes an experience as perfect as it can be...
