Elefantastic Elephant Farm is a unique and inspiring experience that is a must do for anyone visiting India. Elefantastic Elephant Farm is owned and managed by a former Elephant Rider (Mahut), farm focusing on health-care and breeding management for friendly, beautiful and special elephants to produce healthy elephants to live on Earth. /., Although Elefantastic Elephant Farm was only born on 21st February 2012, my family's involvement with our elephants backdate to over 4 generations ago. Before Elefantastic Elephant Farm materialised, I was an elephant rider at amber palace for 9 years, providing riding tours for the many tourists that visited amber palace. Although I enjoyed being an elephant rider at amber palace & met many tourists, I couldn't help wanting something more meaningful, not for me, but for my elephants. Many of the tourists I met were interested in the day to day life of elephants and what I do with them, rather than just wanting an ordinary ride. As I pondered on the possible opportunities, I realized that I wanted to show people a more in depth insight into the lives of my elephants. There are vast misconceptions across India that animals - especially elephants - are very badly mistreated. I decided that I want to prove to people that this is not always the case and take a step forward in eradicating these misconceptions. This decision inspired me to start Elefantastic Elephant Farm, which gives an insight into the daily lives of our elephants. You will see that all of our elephants are well fed, with spacious rooms, attentive vet check ups every week to make sure they're all at the peak of their health, with loving and caring riders.

If you want to feed, paint, wash, ride and hug an elephant then this is the place for you. We were picked up from the airport with a wonderful welcome, taken to our hotel ( the fab Umaid Bhawan) and then taken for a tasty lunch at owner Raoul's home before going to the Elephant farm. We spent about two... More

We spent a great afternoon with the elephants!:) I was curious about the way how the elephant ladies are treated and got to know the answers. We were offered a lot of fresh cold drinks (which was a good idea - due to the already hot weather in February) The painting and feeding of the elephant, the tasty food (for... More

This was my second trip to the elephant farm; I had taken my other niece last year and was back with the younger one this year. It has only improved over the past 12 months. Rahul the owner was on site overseeing things. The farm had moved to a better locationwhich was immaculate, ( a word not often associated with... More

We went for the day in January and had a lovely day. The Elephants look well looked after and we enjoyed feeding, painting and walking them. We took some great photos and enjoyed our time there. I just hope the Elephants continue to be the number 1 priority

being quite expensive, the excursion makes you slightly more critical as usual, also due to eloquent diatribes on the Elefantastic website against the regular elephant excursions in Amer Fort. Reality of the place helps you understand that regardless of what you imagine or hear, the elephants are well treated, and you are given a chance to make their lives even... More

I had some doubts but all seemed unfounded. The elefantastic driver collected us from our hotel and half an hour or so later we were at the centre. We were introduced to our own elephant, Sampah and Rahul explained how to interact with her. He was so knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. We fed, painted, washed... More

Throughly enjoyed our family( son 10 with us) day out organised by elefantastic. Would never have seen so much had we not booked this trip. Driver and guide came to our Haveli 8am and delivered us back at 8pm. Value for money was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Visits to local market, temple , palace of winds, Amber... More

A really happy and interesting experience. Rahul and his staff were really welcoming, very accommodating when we had to change the time of our visit. The place is calm quiet and clean. The gentleman in charge, sorry I've forgotten his name, was very informative and answered our many questions. Our wonderful elephant, Moti, seemed pleased we had come to visit... More

When planning our honeymoon in India, my husband's only caveat was we had to see some elephants. After looking into some of elephant riding activities near Amber fort we had qualms about how ethical their treatment was and happened upon Elefantastic. We spent half a day with our Elephant, 53 year old Sanba, who was rescued from abuse and it... More

Is this ethical?

I found this website on Trip advisor and was astonished to see.....elephant painting and elephant bare back rides? What are the policies on animal welfare? How are they cared for?

Many tourists are animal lovers who don't realize that elephant rides and other wildlife attractions can cause harm to the animals

Travel companies around the world profit from some of the cruellest types of wildlife tourist attractions on earth.

Whether it is riding elephants, taking selfies with tigers, or performing dolphin shows, these activities can cause lifelong suffering for wild animals.

Last year Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU) analysed 24 different types of wildlife attractions across the world. They rated them based on welfare and conservation criteria - this information was combined with recent research to identify 10 of the world’s cruellest types of attractions.....number one being elephant rides.

Riding elephants

In order to make elephants submit to elephant rides and other human interactions, they are taken from their mothers when babies and forced through a horrific training process known as ‘the crush’. It involves physical restraints, inflicting severe pain and withholding food and water. By the time tourist come to ride an elephant, it may look at peace, but this is because it’s spirit has been broken. The bullhook used permanently reminds the animal of human dominance.

The cruelty does not end after the crush. When not performing or used for rides most elephants are kept on chains, unable to socially interact with one another. This is hugely damaging to their physical and psychological wellbeing.

Up to 550,000 wild animals are currently enduring lifetimes of suffering at tourist entertainment venues globally.

Please do not promote animals in tours or as attractions but let's embrace them in their natural habitats.
