My wife and I are both educators and we were hoping to learn about the wide variety of birds in the Lake Myvatn area. The entire museum was stuffed birds. No habitat, migratory, or dietary information. All of the information we found was also at...More

Great location and an interesting museum. I highly recommend the museum café. The view on the lake is wonderful and the home made food is great and good value. I had the rye-bread with smoked artic char. Very tasty and not at all expensive.

We visited the Bird Museum, which has a good collection of Iceland birds, but we were more interested in viewing birds on the lake. The area outside the museum/cafe area is one of the best viewing spots on the lake. There is a telescope inside...More

This museum is a small but good museum on the many varieties of birds in the area. The birds are well stuffed and the eggs are expertly preserved. To any nature lover would be the marimo balls of algae that are in the small pool...More

The location and building alone are worth seeing for the interesting siting of the building and the architecture. The bird information is great. There is a map for each bird that shows where they spend winter and summer and a timeline that shows their months...More

If you are a birder and would like to see what all of the Icelandic species look like, this is a must see spot. Also large lakes next to the museum are perfect habitat for many species of birds. Well worth the time to visit.

We were here in the Spring, as the birds were arriving, so the sanctuary was full of interesting ones. We wanted to see the marimo balls, which are in the floor pools in the museum. The stuffed birds helped us identify some of the birds...More

We had not planned to visit this museum, but were passing and stopped by. We were so glad we did. The museum itself is in a very nice building and is well set out, with friendly staff. There's a cafe there too. For someone like...More

A lovely museum to visit, not only it helps to see and therefore better recognize the birds that are flying all around, but also there are the eggs of the young and bits of information about the birds. Where they winter, where summer etc. all...More
