The hike to get to Hengifoss takes about 30-45 minutes one way depending on how many stops you take to get pictures of the other falls and the lake along the way! The hike is moderate, fairly steep with muddy parts and a stream crossing....More

While tall, this waterfall isn't particularly picturesque. There are prettier waterfalls along the roads in Iceland. Be prepared for a very muddy trail in parts, and a small stream crossing. I have no objection to strenuous exercise, but this view wasn't worth the hike. Convenient...More

A gradual climb to reach the fall. Along the ways, there are more waterfalls and view point areas to stop and take pictures. A place to visit if you are in the area.

The Hike is moderate and steep. About 30 mins each way. But you see the waterfall all the way up from the bottom. Not as busy as all the others so that was good and the power next to the fall is incredible.

Hengifoss is one of Iceland's largest waterfalls at 118 metres high. Yes, the hike to the final viewpoint is a bit of a challenge but we're both senior citizens and enjoyed the majestic viewpoints enroute. The power and majesty of nature were apparent all along...More

The climb from the parking lot is a steady and steep one. We were fortunate to go so on a sunny day but even so, past the last viewpoint the trail gets very muddy and slippery. The views up the canyon into the falls are...More

These falls were beautiful but expect a 2 mile hike straight up. Stairs, slopes, mud, gravel it's all included and you will see it all. The hike was challenging. The falls were beautiful. But expect to have to work for the view!

Great 2 hours! If you want to hike all the way to bottom of the falls it’s a challenge! Otherwise there are several lookouts and you can turn around anytime. Enjoy!

We walked there in July, it starts pretty steep in the beginning but gets easier very soon. They have made the tracks up to Hengifoss much better to walk on than it was plus several places you can sit and catch your breath and enjoy...More

I traveled to Iceland with my wife during June 2018. We drove clockwise on the ring road. We stopped at Hengifoss. There is a car park at the bottom and then a walk uphill to the top falls. Along the way there are other falls...More

The nearest road is bitumen, so yes, you will be able to get there in a 2WD. From the parking area to the waterfall is a 45 minute walk, up hill.

Locals recommend tourists not driving in winter/ dark months. I'm not sure regarding what the weather conditions will be in march. We visited in July.
