An ultramodern funicular which connects the outskirts of the town of Schwyz to Stoos, a ski destination. The funicular's compartments feel like the inside of a normal aerial tramway cable car, however they roll with gravity, thus removing any sensation of a steep climb (and...More

While there has been a lot of hype about this new mountain funiculair, we were somewhat underwhelmed after our visit here in early August; poor design, lack of sufficient parking, and poorly laid out within the village of Stoos make this just an okay attraction....More

We believe this newly opened funicular to be the steepest in the world. It’s an odd lift of four huge yellow tubes with some seating and lots of standing room in each tube, and unlike some it remains horizontal all the time, even on the...More

Visited on a sunny day in shorts and T shirt. Need for better clothing if colder. Rode furnicular railway then 2 chair lifts to a summit. Could have hiked but wasn’t geared up for it. Great views from the summit(see photos). Bells on cows necks...More

Nothing special about this funicular the one at Monte San Salvatore I thought was the worlds steepest but whatever. It gets you to stoos and then on to higher chair lifts for good hiking. I agree with another poster who lamented to food choices here;...More

This ride is amazing, it lasts for 11 minutes. Then you can walk around looking for a cafe to have a good meal but you will not find one. There are two nearby, one with not enough umbrellas for tired and hot hikers. Another with...More

We arrived here at about 10:00, was a few cars about but there was still free parking. Since this is a brand new funicular the parking garage is still under construction. We purchased our tickets very easily, went through the turnstiles and got on. The...More

We had a very nice visit to Stoos. We took the lift up the mountain and the view was beautiful. There is a trail to climb (we went after the ski season ) and the restrooms were clean.

Our Swiss friends were justifiably proud of this newly opened funicular on the outskirts of Schwyz up to the Stoos ski area. Quick, quiet and very efficient it is easy to forget that it is almost vertical travel. On the mountain it is apparent that...More

Riding on the steepest funicular in the world was quite an experience and even though it was really very steep, you won't really feel it which is amazing. You get to enjoy great views on the funicular too. When we reached Stoos, there were mostly...More

Amazing experience! I am normally afraid of heights and not so adventurous... but so glad I took this tram. It goes up very steep but you don’t feel at all. This futuristic looking funicular is state of the arts, one of a kind. Highly recommended!...More
