We rented an inflatable boat to go see the caves along the coast. There were 3 of us, myself and my two teenage sons. I had told them that I had never driven a motor boat before, but all we got was a couple of minutes of instructions and a piece of paper of what is/is not allowed. We did ok, and enjoyed our day but had a few tough moments. It would have been good to have a more thorough induction.

I rented a private boat for two people, and I loved the experience, way better than going on a tour. This was my first time driving a boat, and here are my tips. Take your time before renting to understand how to operate such a boat if possible, and in the open sea practice maneuvering, especially reversing. This will be really crucial later when you are navigating near other boats and approaching beaches. Using the anchor is also tricky, as it may take a while for it to attach into the sand. Also, try to park away from other boats, as they tend to get close to you in the current. From the Marina to Cala Luna (furthest beach you are allowed to go) it's an hour, going at a decent speed without stopping. It's never windy in the morning in Sardinia, but afternoons do get windy and the sea gets rougher. The way back took an hour from Cala Goloritze because most of the way we were going slowly, otherwise the boat jumps a lot. The rent period is 9-5pm, so keep in mind sea conditions and distance. I only stopped to enjoy the Pools of Venus (best at 11-1 pm for colour/sunlight) and at the Cala Goloritze area. Other places are too crowded and not as beautiful in comparison. Pools of Venus is my favourite spot in Sardinia, truly paradise. I wouldn't bother going all the way to Cala Luna, btw. Choose yours stops wisely ! Renting the boat was the highlight of my time in Sardinia, but do be smart about it.

We stayed at Arbatax resort with 2 children of 11 and 14 years old and performed diving with Nautica Diving. Excellent service from all staff. My oldest child and I did his advanced open water dive course here while my youngest daughter did her junior open water diver certificate in this diving center. Equipment perfectly serviced and prices fair. Diving quality is good. Lots of cave dive options with beautigull coloured scenes. Observed octopuss, lobster, hermod crabs, some kind of ray, garoupa and plenty of moray eels. Could advise using this diving center if you are in the area

Renting a boat was the highlight of our vacation. Just coasting near the shore cliffs takes your breath away, but when you reach small pristine "calas", otherwise unacessible by anything but the boat, drop the anchor close to the shore and dive into the most beautiful clear sea is something you really have to experience. The boats were practicly new and really well maintained, and the Nautica team was spot on.
