Excellent tasting experience in this small but well-kept cellar in Bolgheri. The sommelier who showed us the cellar and who led the tasting had engaging enthusiasm and showed a prompt response to any question. The wines being tasted are the three basic ones, but there is also the possibility of tasting others.
To try!

We visited as an organised tour of the vineyard when in the area. This included a wine tasting of 2 wines and a lovely meat and cheese platter, all served with their own AMAZING olive oil. Such lovely staff, stunning location and such high quality. Thank you

I've visited many wineries in my travels, and had a lot of great experiences. But, I found a very special wine experience at Tenuta di Vaira, in Bolgheri, Italy, about 45 minutes south of Livorno (great for cruise passengers who don't want to visit Florence or Pisa). This small, family-run winery produces about 30,000 bottles a year. It's a small, nondescript place that has a pleasant wine tasting menu, and good wines to try (both red and white). You will get a short tour of the vines and production house (very modern equipment). They also make a great olive oil. Their real gem, however, is the absolutely-sensational Bolgherese Superiore. It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a beautiful silky texture and beautiful flavor. Lucky for us, their 2011 vintage is now being offered in the shop, and that is one of their best years in decades (for this winery). The wine spends 16 months in French oak barrels, and then 6 months more in the bottle before being offered for sale. Try it, you will love it. At 24 EUR per bottle, it rivals some of the highly-expensive wines from Napa Valley and France. The staff is helpful and friendly, and speak both English and German.

We went to this place because we wantred to take my sister and her friend to a wine-tasting.

First we got a small tour of the actual vineyard, and our guide/host was very passionate and informative about the facility.

After this we sat down on a delightful patio in front of the main house with a beautiful view of the garden, and were served a fantastic lunch. Fist our host brought a delicious white wine, and immediately some cheeses and jams to taste, and after a selection of the red wine of the house and local ham and salami, and bread with tomatoes or cheese- all well prepared and nicely presented.

Out host, Giovanna, left us red wine on the table, but as the day was very hot, she informed us that she was going to leave the white wine in the fridge to keep cold, but kept passing every 10 minutes to see if anyone of us wanted a re-fill etc.

We were so full we had to leave some of the bread and cheeses on the table, as we could not finish it, and we concluded our visit with some shopping in their wine shop.

My sisters friend, never having been to a place like this before, was amazed, and we were all very impressed with our experience.

€20 per person for the abundance of food and wine is perfectly priced, and I would definetily recommend this place.

We called in 'on spec' as it was after 1pm and other wineries were closed. Fortunately this one seems to stay open all day. The lady who chatted to us spoke excellent English and in fact told us that she wanted to get as much practice with her English as possible. She gave us 5 wines to taste, talked to us for nearly an hour, and there was not a charge. The highlight for us, though, was to realise that they had huge steel barrels with red and white wine, for only 3 euros a litre, if you use your own containers. We didn't have a container and were going to use the dog's drinking bottles. However the lady took pity on him and found us a plastic bottle for our purchase. Looking forward to some good quality, cheap wine!

Called in a day before to organize a winery tour and tasting. Opted to do the 3-wines and a charcuterie board with varied aged-pecorinos and local cured meats. The tour was informative (solo in Italiano purtroppo) and the hostess was kind. Wines were surprisingly good and affordable. Will definitely recommend and come back again. PS. their olive is also a must-have.

We visited here on a trip through bolgheri to try and buy some wines. The winery is new built and very fancy. The Vermentino was very nice. The rest was ok. We still bought 1 box of wine but were charged 15 Euro per person for the tasting, which most places give you for free if you buy wine. A little bit disappointing and the wine are ok but not so special. I would recommend trying some other places instead of this one.
