Long and quiet beach in South Crete
Aug 2021 • Couples
Kalamaki Beach is a quiet, looong, sandy beach, with many great bars and restaurants. The village is very small, nothing really interesting, but a perfect choice to stay here in a seaside room, and go for day trips around.

Gulf of Masara Magic
Jun 2021
The beaches along the Gulf of Masara are so often overlooked by travelers. Locals frequent these clean, sandy stretches of perfection more often than tourists. Kalamaki is one of the nicest anywhere on Crete, on a stretch of soft sand that runs from Kommos to Agia Galini in the distance, you'll find a host of wonderful tavernas and accommodations in the old way. Highly recommended for those in search of more peace, quiet, and picturesque wonder.

Pelini, Kalamaki Bech
Aug 2020
Wonderful beachfront stay at Pelini. The hosts ensure an easy and efficient check in. Rooms are well equipped with beautiful sea views, comfortable beds and great wi-fi. Everything you could need for a few days stay - and the best restaurant around is just next door! Highly recommended.

It’s a Beach
Oct 2019 • Couples
That’s about it. A quiet, relatively uncrowded beach. Average gritty sand. Some trees in places for shade otherwise umbrellas. No vendors to bother you is a plus. There are larger rocks off shore so not every area is good for going in the water.

Great Beach

Lovely beach in a quiet area. Quite rocky in places but the sea was lovely. Not many places to sunbathe but we found a nice bar/restaurant with sunbeds.

A Cretian Gift!
Sep 2019
The beach is beautiful and encompasses well organised umbrellas and sun lounges and wilder expanses of white sand and rocks, where you can go au naturel. You can feel the raw, primeval nature of the landscape as you float in the crystal clear sea and look upon the surrounding mountains. It's a landscape worthy of the Gods that emerged from it thousands of years ago. The sea is usually calm but can get rough, sending breakers rolling onto the beach. It was never too rough to swim in, though, and the change is exhilarating. Getting in and out of the beach takes some care and attention due to the rocks but connects you to the natural beauty of the beach and becomes a playful game with the sea. There are local Tavernas alongside the beach serving good food, wine and cold beer - all of which have perfect views of the sunset. The village appears to be almost only a few streets but it has all you need for a day or week at this beautiful beach.

Relaxing beach
Aug 2019 • Family
A long sandy beach, clean and not full of tourists, and staying at the Studios Paradise gives it an almost exclusive feel. A steady breeze helps keep you cool when temperatures are high and also makes for some impressive waves. The seabed is rock so can be a little tricky to navigate in and out of the water at first and may limit younger non-swimmer children to paddling, but the beach is very safe thanks to a clear flag system and lifeguard. The beach is very long so great for a mid-afternoon stroll and forms a great setting for an impressive sunset.

No words... You could get the beach by foot from the kalamaki village. And you could see the littles caretta caretta run in the sea!
