We did a quick 5 day tour with Iceland Discovery in late May 2021, just as Covid restrictions were lifting in Iceland. We had looked into a couple different tour companies, and Iceland Discovery was the most flexible, offering us activities that we would enjoy. Kristján Jónsson, the head tour guide, worked out an itinerary with us during the weeks prior to our arrival. He booked our hotels and restaurants for us, making excellent recommendations. The accommodations and restaurants were truly excellent. His associate, glacier guide Kristján Björn, took us on an amazing glacier hike at Sólheimajökull! This was an experience of a lifetime if you have never seen a glacier before. I highly recommend it. We also toured the Golden Circle, the South Coast, and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. On the last day, we went to the Blue Lagoon with plenty of time to spare before our evening flight back to the US. The tour he designed for our 5 days was well thought out and gave us a great intro to Iceland in our short amount of time. It was stress-free and just a wonderful travel experience overall. You will be in good hands with Kristján!

We have now used Iceland Discovery for 2 trips- one in the winter and one in the summer. Both were amazing and so well planned- from the highlight reel to off the beaten path wonders. The support is fantastic and the itineraries were magical. We trust Kristjan so much, we told him to surprise us on our next trip to the North and North East. Can't wait.

Our trip to Iceland could not have been any better. Working with Kristjan, planning our itinerary, was a pleasure and he made it so easy. He was responsive and got us to all of the sights we wanted to see. Our tour guide Dogg was exceptional. She kept us moving and took us to some of the most beautiful places. She was personable and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the hotels that Kristjan arranged for us and we found the food throughout Iceland to be very, very good. We really enjoyed the Icelandic people - they are very friendly and have a wry sense of humor. One of our favorite days was going to Thorsmork. We had to take a special all terrain vehicle. Our driver was excellent and the hiking was superb.
Icing on the cake was seeing the Northern Lights three nights in a row. What a thrill!
Thanks to Kristjan and Dogg, our experience could not have been better.

Iceland Discovery prepared a wonderful tour for us, and all the moving parts fit together seamlessly. Our family enjoyed a delightful week of sightseeing, hiking, kayaking and dining. We were well-cared for from the moment we landed to the moment we departed. Our guide, Gutti, was knowledgeable, thoughtful, friendly, energetic and accommodating. It was a wonderful trip.

Have always wanted to see the northern light so was very much looking forward to this part of our trip. Sadly even though all aspects for seeing the lights were present the light did not come out.
I would stay this is still a trip well worth doing.

An awesome and unforgettable 9days 8nts winter adventure with Iceland Discovery . My sincere thanks to Mr Kristjan Jonsson , the tour manager cum driver of ID, for all the tour arrangements , good food recommendations and hotel reservations .
This was the first private tour with ID,and initially, we were quite skeptical about the itinerary proposed by them. However , the whole 9D was well organized and executed. We had a very smooth and relaxed journey without any hiccups because Kristjan had well planned the schedules and itineraries appropriately. We were amazed by his excellent service attitude; as a humble tour guide as well as a patience and calm driver. He took care of our safety ,by buying crampons for all of us for the slippery icy roads, very knowledgeable with all the places of attractions and experience with all the routes , as he drove cautiously without even using GPS. He would also fulfilled our requests, by bringing us to the best recommended restaurants, getting the best hotdogs in Iceland, and even sacrificed some of his personal time to drive us to the best spot for chasing northern lights till wee hours.
In conclusion, we have made the right choice for this trip and everything is just fantastic and awesome .
Will definitely recommend our friends and to join Iceland Discovery for Iceland tour .

My husband and I went to Iceland at the end of August. I had no time to plan our trip, but I did know that we wanted to go on a glacier hike, and it was not something we could do on our own. Luckily, my Airbnb host recommended Iceland Discovery. I told Them that I needed a guide for our hike, but needed their help filling out the rest of the day. Kristjan emailed me a custom itinerary which included black sand beaches and waterfalls. They made sure all plans were confirmed before my departure date with details about our pick up and addressed all my questions before I left for my trip. They provided all the gear for the hike.
Traditionally, my husband and I hate tours. we like to explore on our own, but Kristjan was great. He filled the trip with history and stories as a local Icelander. He gave us space to explore on our own, but stepped in when we needed his help. During our drive he gave us great ideas of what to do on our own. Later that night he emailed us a whole day's agenda for our self drive tour of West Iceland, which we followed to a tea. Worth every penny!!!

Kristjan was excellent to work with - he was very responsive and helpful in suggesting and arranging the tours, and our guide, Thorir, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Iceland is a magical place and when we go back we'll put our entire trip itinerary in Kristjan's very capable hands as it's clear he knows the best itineraries to reveal Iceland's beauty to all who visit.

Wow! That is how I should begin this amazing adventure in Iceland. I planned the dive portion of the trip through Dive.IS before realizing that I wanted my family (two adult daughters and husband) to take full advantage of our time in Reykjavik. Through Trip Advisor reviews I decided to contact Kristjan at Iceland Discovery. And how right I was! He took over from the first email, responded promptly (as in hours, not days) and worked up an itinerary that was absolutely perfect! This was a private family tour and everything went like clock work. We had a private helicopter tour, as well as the private blue lagoon lounge, city tour, Northern Lights, wonderful restaurants with window seating, birthday cake/champagne surprise for my "scuba" daughter, all transportation (clean and roomy for four) and on and on. And all planned and suggested by Kristjan!
What I liked most about choosing Iceland Discovery (because I know there are many companies to use and you may wonder - how do I get this right?) is that Kristjan was very professional, yet personable. He anticipated what we might like to do or need and had it ready or planned, always waiting on us. Never did I have to consider calling or wondering what time we were to be picked up.. Example: One daughter stays cold so Kristjan always had the car running with the heat on so she could jump in and out when she got cold; hot chocolate at the ready:) This was such a nice touch, particularly when waiting on the Northern Lights:) Another Example: For the birthday surprise after my daughter's dive at Silfra in Thingvellir National Park, Kristjan had a really nice birthday cake, complete with 21 candles, hot chocolate, champagne, all on a nice tablecloth, with proper glassware, etc. The perfect ending to a surprise birthday dive. (The dive will be for another review - amazing!)
Final example: the weather was "iffy" for the helicopter tour so Kristjan contacted both the helicopter company and dive company to switch days in order for the helicopter tour to take place. He also provided a land itinerary that was flexible to our liking should the weather not cooperate. Fortunately, the weather lifted and we had the most amazing sightseeing adventure of part of southern Iceland. (That will be another review as well!)
In summary, I would just like to say that Kristjan at Iceland Discovery made the Iceland trip amazing through his advanced planning and interest in making it work. That is very important, I think, when using an outside service. I know we all have stories where it did not work out but I can almost guarantee you, Kristjan will make your trip perfect!
Enjoy Iceland! It is an amazing country and I simply cannot wait to go back.

How much is a day discovery tour? We are a group of four staying in Kopavohur.
