Mt. Mihara, the volcano is the main attraction in the Oshima Island. It's an easy one night trip from Tokyo. You can take the high-speed ferry from Tokyo Takeshiba ferry terminal and reach the island in around 2 hours. The tickets can be booked online....More

I loved the view from the top. You also get to see Mt. Fuji from there. The hike is not really that tiring so I believe family with small children can make the hike. I just loved it.

Nice walk. View probably great when weather is nice. It wasn't. Still really interesting with lots of volcanological information in English.

Not easy to get on the top, but definitely worth the climb! The view is amazing. Also the volcanic desert at the base of the volcano is interesting/bizarre

If you are on Oshima, I highly recommend this walk to the top of the active volcano Mihara. It's an easy ascent, with impressive views into the crater. The route from the final bus stop is most popular, but there are several ways up, and...More
