About
Sea Kayaking Abel Tasman National Park Kaiteriteri Kayaks has been operating sea kayaking tours in the Abel Tasman National Park for nearly 20 years. With every trip we ensure that: safety is a priority; everyone has a relaxed time in an enjoyable atmosphere, and the beautiful environment is respected. Our trips are about experienced guides and good times, not hard work. For lots of laughs join a trip with the locals! Over 50 kilometres of coastline offers dozens of golden sand beaches to visit, while the many coves and lagoons provide plenty of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. Sea kayaking here also opens up a world of sea and bird life encounters with animals such as penguins, seals and dolphins. So all in all, you’ve got to say, it’s really not a bad spot!

We hired paddle boards for an hour for our family of 5 during our stay in Kaiteriteri and we all absolutely loved it! The staff were all so friendly and helpful as neither of us had done this before. We were provided with life jackets and safety briefings. Our two youngest children are 11 and 8 and they were required to share a board with an adult while our 15 year old could go on her own - this all worked perfect! We would highly recommend trying this or any of their other services. The price was very reasonable.

My wife and I did a self guided kayak hire for three hours. After an excellent briefing by Mark, we set off. We had plenty of time to leisurely paddle to Split Apple Rock, spend about an hour on a beach we had to ourselves and a quick look at the southern end of the main Kaiteriteri Bay. All gear required was provided, it was of great quality... I will mention again, the briefing and coaching was excellent. We have done kayaking before, but felt a lot safer heading out on our own and took on board the tips provided.

Had a great day with Orinoco guiding us . A group of seven Two English couples and a Danish family. Very relaxing even for us oldies Orin went out of his way to keep us informed with local knowledge en route . Round a couple of islands and a three point turn in a cave proved hysterical before visiting Apple Split Rock andlanding at a beach where he produced coffee and biscuits for the team . We probably kayaked about 5km all told at a very gentle pace which meant we could take in the fabulous surroundings. We bought a package from Sea Shuttle which included kayaks and a trip to Anchorage bay .
It’s a great day out

What is it with the NZ hospo/tourism industry? they moan like their a——s are on fire when there are Covid restrictions preventing them from operating & when they can work they don’t. Grey & rainy Saturday at Kaiteriteri but still warm & calm enough for a swim but K sea kayaks packed up & drove off just as we got to their porta kiosk. When we rang the 0800 number we given flimsy excuse that the weather was going to turn. We’re here two hours later - still calm & overcast. Contemplating another swim.

Great service from start to finish - Chelsea was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the history, biology, and kayaking. This was the way to experience Abel Tasman - at ocean level. The equipment was in great shape and perfect for beginners on the trip as well as the more experienced kayakers.

Simply fantastic. We had no kayaking experience but the team and Elysha our guide took great care of us, explaining everything we needed to know and more besides. You can leave your bags at the kiosk and there are dry bags for your wallet and stuff and smaller more accessible ones for phones etc to take with you. We were a group of 6 including Elysha in 3 two man canoes and all got on really well. We paddled out to Split Apple rock, into a little cave then stopped at a beach for coffee and a swim.
We paddled back to the starting point and 2.5 hours had gone very quickly.
We had a wonderful time and would recommend to anyone.

We chose Kayak, Seals & Cruise package for family 2 adults and 4 children. Our first leg comprised a 3 hour kayak adventure that departed from Kaiteriteri Beach to Split Apple Rock return paddle. We were ably guided by Bryn who provided insights and history of our surrounds. Easy paddle for kayak novices like us. Beautiful views throughout.

My adult daughter and I have just had the most wonderful day hugging the Abel Tasman Reserve coastline. Mark from Kaiteriteri Kayaks gave us a great handover briefing as we hadn't done a lot of kayaking before. We each had a kayak (were unguided) and launched from Kaiteriteri Beach... to mooch about at our leisure up to Split Apple Rock.

A couple of beach stops for the lunch/snacks we had packed (kept waterproof and safe in the kayak's inbuilt holdall). We could also take an iPhone for photos in a specially provided dry bag also provided by Mark. Later, after the 4 hour kayaking, we did some paddle boarding around the bay and I was surprised at just how much fun it is!

Thank you Mark and team for an amazing day. One we will always remember. For anyone considering using Kaiteriteri Kayaks we say Go For It! you are in safe hands with Mark and his colleagues.

We had a very special and enjoyable kayaking adventure with Bryn yesterday. The scenic beauty of the area was enhanced by the kayaking experience and his calm & friendly manner, connecting with all in the group and ensuring our safety with clear instructions. We really appreciated exploring the nearby caves at low tide. Thanks Kaiteriteri Kayaks!

We did a 3 hours unguided kayak trip to Split Apple Rock and had the best time. Two of us hadn't kayaked before and two of us had kayaking experience. The guides explained everything so well before we set off. The kayak to Split Apple Rock isn't that long, we had some wind help us so it took less than an 1hr one way. We spotted at a golden beach and had a swim on the way back. The price is reasonable, all equipment was provided and the weather was great. Both Mark and Mark were really helpful and kind which made the experience so much fun.
