Worth the 650 stairs climb for stunning views of lake Guatape. Take care when going down as stairs get narrow at times

We were on a day tour with Tours Guatape. The climb was 18,000 pesos with 675 steps. It took us 20 minutes to climb up. There is one set of steps to go up and one set of steps to come down. The weather was...More

This is a must do one time. The stairs are steep but the view is worth it. Check out the view from the gift shop on top.

Such a beautiful piece of nature! The climb up to the top can be a little brutal if you’re not in good shape but it’s well worth it! The view of the lake region is amazing and the rock itself is so beautiful!

I made it to the top of the Penol Rock! 600+ steps and 5,000+ puffs of being out of breath later. Views were worth it at the top. There's also snacks at the top including beer and bottled water if you need to refresh. I...More

It is there, you can see it from a long distance. The peak stands out in a flat and "watery" terrain. It is well worth the 700+ steps staright up the mountainside, you will never forget the view. And: The trip down is much less...More

Climbing to the top of La Piedra del Peñol / El Peñón de Guatapé was, for me and my younger daughter, one of the highlights of our trip to Colombia - but we love this sort of thing, always climbing to the top of any...More

We had a fabulous time! A day is sufficient but an overnight stay if you have the time, may make the visit a bit more relaxed and give you time to stroll around guatapé a bit more Coming from Medellin as others have said, you...More

La Piedra del Peñol is an unique place, after climbing this massive rock you will find a very beautiful view. From the top you can see an incredible landscape of green little islands and lakes, part of the Guatape hydro-electric dam. You can also find...More

Highly recommend climbing the rock in Penol as the ~700 steps to the top give you magnificent views of the rolling hills and Guatape lake. A must for anyone visiting the area and Medellin.

I believe they will be. I tried reserving a tour from Medellin on the 24th and it went through with no problem. The only thing to think about will be the traffic and crowds on a holiday. It could be pretty crazy but still... More
