HUGE MUST SEE in Colombia. Well worth the trip up the 675 steps to the top. Make it all the way up to the top and you wont want to leave.....the view is breathtaking. The food at the bottom is "ok" but who cares.....

The views are great but not worth 18.000 COP. If you are budget-travelling, don't let the people making you believe that it is expensive but worth. It isn't.

Great challenge to walk at the top. With 740 scales, the walk must be slow, if you have good physical status you can arrive at the top in 20 minutes. The entrance costs 18000 COP. In the base of the rock you can find restaurants, stores, bathrooms and the sculpture in memorian of the climber Luis Eduardo Villegas López. In... More

The 659 steps built up the side of this monolith provide exercise and stunning views along the way as well as at the top. The original city of Guatape was relocated to higher ground to make way for the building of a hydroelectric dam. During the build the old town was flooded leaving behind a cluster of islands surrounded by... More

Not just a sight to see, an achievement! Climb 750 steps to the peak of the stone, Piedra del Penol, about a 45 minute drive from Medellin or from the airport, and well worth it. Best view of the most amazing landscape surrounded by the lakes at the peak of the mountains. Gift stores, restaurants, facilities, safe and great experience.

Fun way to get out of the city for the day. It is the same direction out as the airport- approx 2 hrs from Medellin. Approx $6 US/ person to climb. Concrete stairs with side walls high enough where it feels safe. Lots of families and all ages making the trek. The top has a festive atmosphere. Everyone is happy... More

If you pace yourself and make it up all 675 steps, the view from the top is spectacular. Hint: go early in the morning so you can rest every other landing. Even if you don't climb the staircases, the views are pretty amazing from even the parking lot. Gates to staircases open at 8:30 am.

The place and view from it was amazing, I liked being able to see the dam that produces the mayority of the energy produced in Colombia. Bring comfy shoes, a coat if it's raining season, water. It' a short visit. The best Bandeja Paisa in Antioquia is from here.
