La Piedra del Peñol is a huge monolith in the Guatape region of Medellin, Colombia. Keeping in mind that you are already over a mile above sea level, the additional height and climb to the top of "the rock" will have you sucking wind and...More

Climbing 740 steps for a great view. We recommend to do it later (4:30 ish) in the day to see the sunset from the top. Make sure to stretch, bring water, and stop for breaks on your way up to ensure a safe climb.

I am allergic to claims of something being "the best xyz in the world" and so I would never take a sign saying "mejor mirador del mundo" serious. But I grant that this weird rock with its not so very security inspiring stairs has an...More

We took a 7:00am bus from Medellin and were there by 9:00am. It was very easy to get to from the North Bus terminal and it drops you right at the base of the climb. Going early meant that during the climb (about 20 mins)...More

El Peñón de Guatapé is a must if you find yourself in Guatapé. Our approach to El Peñón was via a bus tour that did not provide full details as to what the experiment offers. All that was explained was why the was a large...More

This is a must when you travel to Medellin! It is worth the day trip and at times confusing bus ride. The hike to the top of the rock was not as difficult as I thought it would be. It isn't easy, but if you're...More

Amazing views from the tip, even on a cloudy day. It's not as hard as we were lead to believe as we made it to the top in less than 20 minutes. There is a restaurant and ice creams at the top too and you...More

Worst part is going up the stairs. Certain parts were a little too open for me however you are never in any real danger as the protective wall is high so its purely a irrational sensation those who have fear of heights will... More
