If you are already here, you have probably have had a taste of the Colombian culture, -ignore people selling stuff- and focus on the place, the humongous rock and the stunning views! the weather is amazing as well! The climb up is easy if you are fit, if you are not, just be prepared for a lot of stopovers, but... More

In my personal opinion this was one of the best views I have ever seen in my life. This place completely takes your breath away (literally) not only from the view but having to go up the 640 steps all the way to the top. Let me tell you... it's completely worth it. The scenery is spectacular the things to... More

I took a tour to Guatape and Piedra del Peñol. El Peñol has 669 steps (or 740 if you go to the construction on top) getting an amazing 360 views of the valley and the reservoir. There are cafes and souvenir shops on top and restaurants at the bottom. If you take a tour you will stop in some other... More

For those (like me) who enjoy more walking than taking a bus or a car... You can easily walk from Piedra del Penol to Guatape... Even if everyone try to tell you the opposite :) It was actually a nice walk, it took me only 30 min, but i walk fast... Maybe max max 1 hour. You just need to... More

As you will see from the pictures, this is a large rock that rises seemingly out of nowhere. If you are in the Medellin area, by all means go visit the rock, and throw in a visit to nearby Lake Guatape as well. Have lunch by the water, after you work up an appetite climbing the rock. There is an... More

It's a long climb but take your time and some breaks because you will be glad you climbed it once you see the views. Some time about 15 minutes to go up, I took about 35 with several breaks in between which also let me admire the view from different levels. Bring some water to drink plenty before you start.
