I was on my offbeat Himachal Ride, in the last month week of September and the monsoon was also going so I didn't find rain during my ride but when you ride during or right after the monsoon the mountains show you the amazing scenery which you can't see in another season.
Parashar Lake is approx 50 km from Mandi and roads are good till IIT mandi once you take right turn towards Parashar lake the road condition becomes slightly bad, there are good patches and bad patches but it's manageable. I didn't find any puncture repair shop or mechanic in the last 20 km so be prepared for that. there are several viewpoints and I found so many waterfalls also on the way.
Once you reach the top there is a government guest house also you can pitch your tent with no cost, there are small dhabas as well at the top where you can eat and drink.
The important thing is there is a washroom available on the top which is in the manageable condition you can use.

When we were going to Parashar Lake, we have no idea that what is going to happen next. Actually our car stuck 5 Kms prior due to heavy snowfall. So trekking was only option, so we made our mind & did 5kms trekking to reach there. Amidst of trekking, some localitie dread us of leapord & bears. So in this situation try to trek in groups. Finally when we reached there, we were amazed to behold beautiful view of lake surrounded by white snow hills. In last, I will recommend this place to visit specially in winters when view is superlative.

Prashar lake winter trekking ❤️

The on-foot excursion to Prashar Lake is among the most popular treks in Himalayas due to its moderate difficulty level and scenery en route. When done in winters, the journey to this about 9000-feet high pond becomes even better as snow dominates the landscape all around. The Prashar Lake winter trek begins from the bus stop in Baggi village, leading you along numerous scissor bends.

During the hike, you will be required to scale several ridges and moderately high peaks, from where you will get clear views of the great Himalayan Mountains. Another highlight of the Prashar Lake trek is that it leads you through dense forests of pines and deodars, where you may get a chance to see the regional wildlife. Though the elevation of the lake is just 9000 feet and the difficulty level of the hike is easy, the winter season and snow might pose a bit of a challenge. Pack good-quality woollens, shoes with spikes, sunglasses, sunscreen and walking sticks (if required) for an enjoyable Prashar Lake snow trek.

Prashar lake trek is one of the best weekend trips from delhi. Also can be travelled in a very low budget. Prashar lake trek can be done by beginner trekkers easily or you don’t have to be a trekker to go to the Prashar lake.

Prashar lake and temple are a must visit if you are near kullu. Road connects from mandi via IIT Mandi. The journey is wonderful if you are driving your own car or bike. Can stay at the forest guest house or trekkers den. The early morning view of the mountains is beautiful. The arti at the temple especially during Dusshera when the local God's from nearby villages are visiting is mesmerizing. The locals even offered a sheep sacrifice. Thete are many locals offering small treks to nearby peaks as well. But yes keep warm clothes as it is cold in October.

We visited this location in January, 2020. It is quite a treat, though the route was blocked due to snow fall & we had to walk for a few KM it was all worth it. The natural green environment covered with intermittent snow was very beautiful. This place also boasts a track (we did not use due to snow) & frozen lake. the snowfall was fresh & ample for making snowman & snow balls. But the weather was quite cold & proper warm cloth must be used to enjoy this location particularly in winter.

Mesmerizing views. The road to the lake is awesome. One feels blissful after reaching the top of the mountain. Do spend some time sitting next to the lake. Try to reach early to avoid the day rush.

My wife and I visited Prashar lake in the 1st week of october, while returning from our 4 days trip to Manali. Prashar was not in our itenarary, but on our way back my wife noticed this place on a map (from outlook traveller's guide) and we decided to take a detour from Bajaura which is about 14 kms from Kullu (towards chandigarh). those who are coming from Chandigarh can take direct route from Mandi. Last 23 kms is a treacherous climb amid the dark deodar and pine trees. An upward journey may take you more than 2.5 hrs to cover the last lap of 23 kms so keep a good time margin to avoid driving in the dark which can be dangerous if you are not among experienced hill drivers. however I found the ride very enjoyable and adventurous.
There are only two accomodations available, forest rest house and PWD guest house. we stayed in Forest rest house, which again has two sections, one is main guest house and 50 mtrs above it is trekker's hut where we stayed, which actually is a bunglow. Rooms are very spacious nice and clean bathroom. view from the guest house is magnificent It was off season so we got the room easily but in peak season which is from april to aug (approx), a prior booking from DFO, forest department or PWD office is must.
Prashar lake is about 300 -400 mtrs walk from these guesthouses. The view of the lake at the top of mountain is magnificent. i have attached few photographs taken from my Nikon D3000. Prashar temple which is believed to be built 1000 years ago is at the periphery of the lake. According to the priest there, Sage Prashar did deep meditation at this place, for 64000 years.
A small shop beside the temple offers snacks. maggi, tea and even lunch at the rates which we found quite cheap. Best time to visit the temple is before 8 am when the sun is just rising above the mountains in front of temple, the best time to take picture of the lake and temple from the hill in front of mountain( temple is east facing).
we had some commitments back at home otherwise we would have stayed there for 2-3 days more. there is nothing to do expect blending yourself with the nature and appreciating its serenity. if you are tired of the fast paced urban lifestyle then this is a place to find true peace and rejuvenate yourself. walking around this place is therapeutic.
dont forget to pack warm clothes. those who need more information about this place can call me 9634749567. I will be more than happy to give you all the information i have. This is a must visit!!!!!!!!!! happy journey.

A request- Please donot litter at this place. take away your garbage with you and let others also experience the beauty of this place as you did.

If you want to have worst experience of trekking go for them. Neither the trek leader Vijeet nor the staff has any manners to talk with client. They will treat you as if you are in a school picnic with a headmaster. The food quality was pathetic they served us matar paneer which had gone bad and tasted sour.
The one day stay that they provide you at their base is terrible with bed sheets having stains on them bed is half broken and the pillow are torn. There is no professionalism and I felt like I havnt paid them instead they paid me to do this trek
Worst trek company pls don’t go for them I did Kashmir Tarsar Marsar trek with them and had a horrible experience

Frozen Prashar Lake is a delight to watch!! The place looks heavenly under snow. I trekked there solo in January 2015 through the Bagi Forest Route. Its perfect route for a single day trek, you can start at around 10-11 AM from Bagi Village and reach the lake in 4-5 Hours. One should ideally plan to camp overnight (there are only a few guest houses which needs to be pre-booked, in case you are not going for tent stay).
