Bloemendaal Highlights: Guided Bike Tour close to Amsterdam

1 review
Swap the city for the beaches, dunes and wide-open spaces of Bloemendaal on this 4-hour guided bike tour from Amsterdam. Enjoy the scenery and sea air as you ride a pushbike around the picturesque shores and nature reserves of this beautiful region just north of Amsterdam. Pass historical houses, stop to admire a working mill, explore the lush coastal forests and rolling dunes of the South Kennemerland National Park; spot grazing deer and horses, and enjoy refreshments at a trendy Bloemendaal aan Zee beach club. All biking equipment included.

It was early in the morning when we arrived at the parking area as we didn't want to be in the crowd. Soon after the sun rising, we saw a group of highlander accross our path and it was so beautiful. We took a short walk near the water and when we saw some people walked with their dogs, we decided to go home. It's a nice area for walking and if you're lucky you will meet some wild animals

There are trains every half hour to Overveen, just 24 minutes, the park is one kilometer from the station. Just after the entrance you reach a small lake suitable for a bath or swim, this area is mostly aimed at small children with sand, dunes, forest. Then you can follow the blue trail, 10 kilometers through the pristine nature to the sea and beach and back, on the way back it passes an island where birds nest.

These dunes are very special. They are broad and formed by wind and see. So they form the natural border with the land behind it. In the dunes is the water collection for the cities in the area and Amsterdam. In addition, the dunes are a sensitive area. So it is not allowed to go everywhere. However there are enough tracks for fine hiking and cycling. Have a nice look at the wildlife like deer, pheasant, birds and foxes. After your walk or ride you can have a nice beer, coffee etc at the beachbars.

not exactly Yosemite or Yellowstone but a beautiful hilly dune park leading to the atlantic; we were recommended to this by the bike shop we rented from in Haarlem.
