No fireflies during full moon, dangerous with the boats, too crowded (waiting 45min to go back to the hotel because no space in the bus for everyone)

Hi Lisa, Good day! We normally advise our guests that there will be lesser fireflies during full-moon it is because they typically won`t make an appearance where there are bright ambient lights. So these are the instances where fireflies won`t make an appearance: it is during full-moon, windy and stormy. We were the one who started the Firefly Tour here in Loboc and we call it `Firefly Stand-up Paddle Tour`. We love and care the environment so we`ve decided not to have the Firefly tour by boat because aside from the noise that it creates it also ruins the environment. Before a tour leaves whether it is a day or Firefly tour there is always a short briefing and our guides would always inform you to be careful and to always stay together as a group. We`ve also provided life vests esp. during the night because aside from it saves you from drowning, the lights coming from the boat would also reflect in your vest so it is easier for them to see you and avoid any accidents. Regarding with the pick-up, I don`t think it would take 45 minutes for the next batch to be picked. It only takes around 5 minutes from the pick-up point going here at the resort. So 45 minutes of waiting is impossible. But don`t worry because we are going to make sure that in our next tours pick-ups must be on time. Thank you and we hope to see you in the future!

I loved SUPing and was very excited about the tours here. I did the 2pm SUP waterfall SUP tour. The 1st hour was just dodging large floating restaurant boats all with loud music and being next to a highway. It really detracted from the experience and would suggest you do the morning waterfall tour or the downstream 2pm tour instead. Additionally, when we go to the waterfall, our guide was supposed to show us where we could swim and it seemed like he had no idea, taking us through some really rough water areas to try to get to a place we ultimately didn't reach. Guide also chatted constantly, not letting you enjoy nature.

Dear C R, Thank you for your review and because of the fact that there are indeed many boats going upstream in the afternoon, we have taken your review constructively and changed our routes for the 2pm half-day tour to a Rivermouth SUP Tour. This tour is going downstream to the ocean and is actually a good way to see the full length of the river. It is equally as stunning as doing the waterfall tour. Since its in the afternoon, there is a chance that you can cross the ocean and stop at the beach nearby during sunset. We hope you can experience our tours once again and have a better one this time. Yours truly, SUP Tours Philippines' Team

Peaceful, scenic, quiet adventure up the loboc river. Amazing way to see nature and a different view of the locals. 1 of the best days I had in the Philippines. Great tour guide. Feels like you got the place to yourself. Swim in the river and at the waterfalls was welcome on a hot day.

SUPing Loboc river, upstream, downstream, and at night with the fireflies, was amazing experience! However, please consider replacing your boards with new ones. The ones I've used during my tours were still usable but very worn out and heavily patched up. Seeing that your business is doing exceptionally well, I would expect that you can afford to have and maintain your equipment. Also, I'm not very content at how your guides teach basic SUP technique. I'm not very sure if it's bcos I'm comparing how I was taught as a first-timer before, or bcos we are just paddling closed flat waters, or the difficulty of teaching in english (the guides can communicate in basic english), but I consider myself lucky I did not come as a first-timer, or I don't think I would have appreciated SUP as much as I do now. Despite that, I would like to especially mention Troy,my guide during my SUP tours, who did a great job in guiding me in my tours. He deserves a raise!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hi Soulsaging, Thank you for the constructive review. We already replaced our old boards with brand new, locally-shaped, handsome-looking boards that arrived yesterday. ;) We knew that our boards were getting old and having it made by a local shaper took sometime but all's good now. We are so happy with the result, look and feel of the new boards in the water. I hope you get to try it out. I dunno how it was taught to you before but your instructor, Troy is an Academy of Surfing Instructor certified for stand-up paddling. His lesson is in line with international standards. He is quite fluent in English but maybe some of our new guides in training went with you. Salary raise has been sorted, don't worry. ;) Our company started very small 7 years ago and it has gotten bigger now. We have been busy since the end of last year re-organizing the company and aligning it very much so for the welfare of our team and preparing for the growing tourism in Bohol. We'd like to thank you for doing your tours with us and we hope to see you again and get some of your new feedback. Appreciate it!

We had an inspiring tour with Troy. Even weeks later we are talking of him as he just was amazing and we had great laughs. Ask for Troy when doing the SUP tour. The SUP firefly your was great even when there were not so many fireflies around.
