Great spot to visit when nearby. The entry fee is only 3,5€ and you get a geocache for free :-) Great views from the ruined towers too

A wonderful old castle with dungeons (frightening!!!) and a lovely view. You can really experience the Middle Ages.

Nice for a quick visit. You won't learn anything new but it fits well in its environment. Try to walk to the castle from the school at the bottom of the hill through the forest. Cheap entrance and good service

This is quite an interesting sight near Spa. I was surprised to learn of the castle's place in the history of Wallonian daring do. Apparently six hundred men defended it against all odds at one time in the late middle ages, and the then Belgian king used Franchimont as the venue for his rallying speech to the troops on the... No bar, and still in works but still nice to see. If you ask at the desk you can dress up your child as a real soldier of the middle age!

This ancient Chateau is off the "beaten track" and worth visiting. We had just visited the town of Spa and "we asked" our Tom Tom GPS to take us to a nearby attraction. We are glad it suggest Franchimont. The annual Medieval Fair had been held over the previous weekend and whilst contractors were cleaning up we were not disappointed... More

This place was so cool! I loved how old everything was. You can get a personal tour guide thingy in many languages. It was awesome to go down into the bunkers, scary little steps down into a dungeon like crevasse created centuries ago. They also have a bar just above for refreshments. Bonus

My family of four decided to take a day trip to Liege, and this is one of the 4 activities that we chose. My husband and I went with our two children, ages 7 and 4. Please note that this castle is in a ruinous state... This castle has been in existence since at least the 1100s. You can rent... More
