I am a geography geek so always search out caves to visit on holiday - these didn't disappoint! The tours are only in French or Belgian but our guide spoke excellent English and he just told us to stick near him so that he can translate a couple of bits while we were walking. It was enough to understand, and... More

My husband and I had a wonderful afternoon here and have nothing but praise for our fabulous tour guide, as our group and a mix of French, German and English speaking people and he split us into separate smaller groups in order to conduct the tour for us all to enjoy. The boat at the end is wonderful and recommend... More

Ca. 1 km walking trail and 700 m by boat is a nice peak inside earth. Play of rocky shapes and light wakes creativity. One may even see a nativity sceene. On another note our guide led tour in Dutch and German only. He knew English but did not bother to say anything untill end of the trip so part... More

With the tag of the longest underground river in Europe, it's hard to pass up a boat ride through a cave. We were the only people on the tour, and were able to wander throughout the cave at leisure. So my recommendation, if possible, is to go in the off-season or during the week, so you can enjoy the caves... More

We visited the Grottes in January a day after new years. There were hardly any other visitors that day so we didn't have to wait in line. We had a small group in the visit, the guide spoke French and Dutch and struggled a bit with German. He was a friendly guy taking his time to explain the various features.... More

Just fun to do! First on foot, then by boat. However, not recommended to wear your best clothes :-) Is wet and muddy inside.

After being recommended by the local tourist office to visit the caves, we had a nasty surprise after a 50 mile drive; they decided to just close he caves with a little sign saying "winter stop". Nowhere on their website this was communicated. Also on all printed promo material which was theirs it said it was opened. When we asked... More

The other reviews have the right of it. Pretty nice caves, but quite badly damaged (most of the best stalactites and stalagmites have been snapped off) and some questionable running decisions (multicoloured party lights? so much light that ferns are growing in the caves?). €14 per person is pretty steep, so it was pretty cheeky to ask for a tip... These caves are really not that interesting. Not as pretty as the ones in Hotton, and not as impressing as the ones in Han sur Lesse. But there is one thing that makes them worth visting. You end your visit sailing through a long rainwater river under the cliff. Absolutely amazing!!!!!
