Plage Municipale du Bourget du Lac is a lovely French Alps lake we visited on our grand tour of all the countries that border Alps.

Beautiful mountain backdrops and a blue glacial fed lake.

There is an entrance fee to this beach. We were there on two occasions mid-week. It was very clean and well maintained with restroom facilities. There is a little park with water fountains for small children to play in.

Surrounded by the Alp mountains, a comfortable beach for all ages. During the summer the water temperature is well over 20° C Many activities are available such as sailing, watersking, surfing, fishing, etc. All around the lake you will find small areas where you can swimm without danger. A complete tour of the lake takes about 60 KM

Spent several hours here having a lazy day. We thought the place was clean and well maintained. Entry for adults is 2.80 Euro each - good value. Great views all round. Definitely worth a visit.

This lake is very wondefull. It is located near the city of Chambéry. This lake is a very big and very nice lake. I can stay several hours to contemplate it. In summer, you can go to the beach to swim and refresh you. The lake Bourget is a very good place to spend a good moment with your friends. In this beach you can also play volleyball (there are a net). Moreover, you will find a snack in the beach: it is a real pleasure to eat an ice cream and to drink a good beer after an afternoon in the beach. To conclude, lake Bourget is the ideal place to spend a good day. Lake Bourget

A fantastic little spot to spend hot days in the French Alps. For a modest fee of couple of Euros or so you gain entry to a beach with all that you need - lawns, shallow parts, a deeper end with a diving board and of course a bar/glacier if you want to sit and look over the water with a glass of white (adults) or an icecream (kids and big kids). On very hot days people tend to cluster under the bar building as there is not a huge amount of shade, but those days are relatively rare. We visited during a heatwave so the water got up to 28 degrees plus but is usually at a more pleasant 25 or so over summer. Nearby are restaurants and activities such as boat hire, a sailing club and rock climbing clubs etc. A lovely spot.

I totally love this lake, but unfortunately I cannot five-star it because there are still some things that could be improved and one of the most important ones is cleanliness. Near the Beach of Bourget, water is rather dirty and not very inviting. Nonetheless, if you want to go further away to visit other beaches, then you'll find some that are less crowded and therefore cleaner.
One thing is sure, you'll love it! Being surrounded by those magnificent mountains and enjoying the view is priceless!

The Lac du Bourget is spectacular, being enclosed by mountains. The municipal lido is, however, an excellent addition not only for sailors, wind and kite surfers and swimmers but the roads and parkland around the location are used by sun-bathers, walkers, cyclists, skaters with ski poles etc. on a sunny day, the place teams with life. There is also a restaurant and a lake side snack bar (part of the same enterprise) that does a mean buffet lunch. Parking in the area can be a problem.
