The Samatan market is well worth the visit - even if you are just passing by. Breads, cheeses, meats, clothes, and anything else you could want can be found at this historic market.

My son went to Samatan market last week and came home with -- wait for it-A PIG! So my review will be somewhat biased. Generally I love the place.

If you wish to experience and authentic rural market , this is it. It's quite a large market with everything for sale, from clothes, pans to vegetables and local produce.

Samatan is well known for its foie gras. However on this market you will find every Monday much more than fresh foie (at 10:30 in the hall). In the big hall you can buy livestock and pets. Then the market occupies the centre of Samatan...More

This traditional market is always busy. Spread out across Samatan, it offers the visitor a true taste of French life. There is lots of local produce. Well worth a visit.

I have been to this market few times in last 3 years. I find this market very unique. This is the place where you can go and see how animals like chickens, rabbits or guinea pigs get sold and passed from one farmer to another....More
