Only stopped in for a cool refreshing sherry and ended up staying a bit longer than intended. There were some other people eating and drinking too, but no guided tours taking place at the time we visited that we could tell.
I would imagine that this place is very popular in the height of the season as there was plenty of dining space, but for our visit it was a really good, history infused place to sample some excellent beer and sherry in a cool(ish) oasis.

They don't make the sherry here unfortunately but the building is very atmospheric. Bar and restaurant. You can purchase the various sherries afterwards. The young lady that describes the process is very good.
Be aware that at the end you are left to taste all the various sherries!

This place was recommended to us by a friend. We arrived in the morning to book a table for lunch the same day.

The food/menu system was very unclear. It seems you can buy seafood in the market and they prepare it for you, or you just use their menu depending what's available that day. That wasn't explained until it was too late really (my partner is even Spanish and they made no effort to explain this to her).

The staff were somewhat brusque and not particularly welcoming. It was quite busy and you feel a bit under pressure to eat and leave so they can do their second sitting. The food was ok but not exceptional and was really over-priced for Andalusia. Maybe it's better in winter when they need the visitors more but I doubt we'll go back.

We arrived for dinner at about 9:30pm on 23April22. The restaurant was very quiet with only one other table of four.

The other customers left at 10pm and it was then that the staff obviously decided they wanted an early night so the waiter told us they were closing. When we pointed out that we hadn’t even finished our wine, let alone had a desert or coffee he replied, very rudely, ‘well I’ll give you another five of maybe ten minutes but we are closing”.

We wouldn’t expect this sort of treatment anywhere, but least of all Spain, where the service is usually terrific.

Good morning, Sorry for doubting about you, but that can not be true. Specially on Saturdays, we do not close so early. Greetings.

We discovered this bodega by chance years ago as it is only fifty meters away from our favourite Sanlúcar hotel (Los Helechos).
The place is accessed through a small porch and is family-run. I would recommend to visit a big bodega (such as Barbadillo) before visiting La Cigarrera. You will find that good manzanilla can be produced by a very small bodega and that their product can proudly stand next to the big boys' products.
My advice: after the tasting, buy twice the number of bottles than originally planned; you will not be sorry (we do each time we visit Sanlúcar).

We have visited this Bodega on two occasions. One for a few different sherries and another time for Tapas and sherry.
Lovely relaxing atmosphere with internal courtyard covered with grape vines.
Highly recommended.
We have not tried the Bodega tour but it looks very good value as you get to taste 4 of the wines included for approx. 4 euros

Fabulous, peaceful small bodega in Sanlucar. Great Sherry and tapas. A long standing favourite. Don't miss if you love the real Spain.

Very good quality seafood. Much better than the Club of Partido Communista which is appraised so often. The atmosphere is very authentic, especially at weekends, when the location is very crowded, what speaks for itself.

We turned up without a reservation for the 1100 English tour and tasting. We did not eat in the restaurant. The bodega is very centrally located and was easy to get to and find. The tour was fairly short, but provided you with enough detail to understand the sherry/manzanilla making process and the history of the small bodega. The tasting was exceptional, with a generous glass of several sherries to share between two. At only 4 Euros each it was a complete bargain. You can also buy a range of the Cigarerra sherries afterwards. If you are really into your wines then you may want something a bit more sophisticated, but for us and our two (older) teenage children it worked a treat.
