Should be on your bucket list

Staying at the Chez Paula gite at the Clos de Caveau was an unforgettable experience. Walking through the vinyard to the villages of Gigondas and Vaqueras, on the doorstep, made us feel part of the day to day life of the area. We got to drink the excellent wine enabled by the unique geology of the Dentelles towering in the background and learnt about how it is made from Henri the owner and genial host.
It was a great base for visiting the historic towns in the Vaucluse area like Vaison, Avignon and Orange and being within easy reach of the Chauvet caves and the Pont du Gard meant that we were never short of a day trip.
We loved it so much we extended our weeks vacation.

Committed to Quality Wines

We love everything about Clos de Caveau. All wines are bio and amazing. Henri spent a lot of time, even in harvest, explaining the terroir of each of the wines, the history of the vineyards and the history of his family's ownership. We have been here several times in the past and will continue to make this winery our first choice to visit next time we are here!

Best experience visiting a winery! Definitely a exclusive opportunity for wine lovers that want to learn more about this art. Our guide dedicated good quality time walking us though the farm where we learned about plantation, processing, maturation in the barrels and in the end great wine tasting. Very special wine and of course we bought a couple of bottles to enjoy it fully.

Wonderful introduction to Provence

Informative wine tasting of fabulous wine hosted by the owner, Henri. We stayed in a gite on this property, for a week, and used it as a base to explore Provence. Great location and the accommodation met all our needs.

Magnificent!

My husband I and were treated to an unhurried, delightful tour of the vines by the owner, followed by a generous tasting of 7 different wines accompanied by delicious homemade snacks, authentically provencale. Nothing was too much trouble for Henri who shared his love of the area, the vines, wine production and the history of his beautiful estate. There was a charge of 15 euros for this 2 hour experience which was well worth it. I would thoroughly recommend the experience.

not to mention great wines ! 5 years' of annual visits to the various parts of the South of France and our 1st time in the Rhone Valley. Jean Francoise was very welcoming and explained quite simply the nuances of wine making in this domaine; and in general this part of France which made the visit something we would want to repeat in the future !

Fascinating tour and delicious wine

We were four grown-ups and three small children. On a very hot day we thought the walk was probably too much for the oldest and youngest, but the rest of us enjoyed a great walk, learnt lots about the vines and the wider area, and were well prepared for the tasting. The children picked wild thyme and rosemary, couldn’t reach the almonds and caught a grasshopper- fun for all. The testing was delicious and the difference between two wines (of seven we tried) made from grapes of the same varieties grown on opposite sides of the estate - less than 500m apart - was amazing. A great tour and one the children enjoyed too.
