The owner and tour guide were so nice. They were waiting for us when we arrive 15 minutes early and started the tour right away. It was interesting for the adults, 19 year old, 16 year old, and 14 year old. We all enjoyed tasting the olive oils and really enjoyed the food spread after the tasting. It was easy to pack up all the olive oil we bought for ourselves and family in the metal tins.

We visited the mill & groves today. What a beautiful place, easy to find in the Syracuse countryside. Francesca was a most welcoming guide, happily answering our many questions! The tasting was also a treat, we understand so much more about oil production & how to choose good quality oil at home. So happy we visited.

Francesca Oliva was an amazing host and gave our group such a knowledgeable tour of the operation ... all questions were answered . Her family started this operation back in 1957 and she is carrying on the tradition.
We had an amazing three course lunch catered by a talented chef - all courses had roots to the area - a truly unforgetable afternoon... thank you Francesca and staff!!!

For many of us who look for "Brand Names" you will recognize FAVOLA this vs the Italian Co listing..that said.. 6 of us from the US/NY & Fla. visited the plant this October and were impressed with the processing system; the cleanliness of the premises, the hospitality of the staff and the education we got re oil production. FAVOLA has it's own crops (but also produces for other farms), and makes a few varieties/flavors of oil. Our guide was Francesca Giudice, who spoke excellent English and was very thorough in her explanations. Most interesting was the discussion on "cold Press" and the longevity of the oil, how it has to be stored and under what atmospheric conditions. We sampled several and left with 2 cases of our favorite "Favola." This is a place that is worth the time if you are in the Syracusa area. Looking forward to using my new oil this holiday season.

We visited Franchescas factory during our week in Sicily and were both very impressed by the professionalism and cleanliness of the production. It was very informative and we both left feeling far more educated. I would recommend this visit to anyone, Franchesca is the most helpful and accommodating. The olive oil is delicious too!!

We took a tour at the farm of Francesca. It was amazing! She was really nice and friendly. The tour was really interesting and informative. At the tasting we had an opportunity to taste lemons and the oliven oil that Francesca and her company makes. It was really tasty. We tasted an incredible lemonade that was made of the lemons of the farm and some sicilian sweets as well. Francesca was really nice and friendly. She recommended us a lot of places to visit in the area. At the end we had the chance to buy some oliven oil from her. It was a really good trip! Highly recommended! :)

Francesca Oliva left Milan and NYC to help run her family agricultural business in Siracusa, Italy. I so enjoyed the walk we took by her lemon orchards and her description of what it takes to grow lemons. She is also undertaking the cultivation of olives, for which she has already won a prize for her bottling design and oil. She provided a tasting of a number of local products, including two different kinds of olive oil that were very distinct and tasty, for a small nominal fee.
I would highly recommend a visit to her farm to get a sense of the the richness of agriculture in Sicily especially around the fertile valleys of Siracusa.
