This teak wood monastery is just by the same name temple in the same compound. We saw similar others like this one on our Myanmar tour, but apart from those bigger ones, this was much smaller with no crowds and tourists. Total silence in a...More

When I was coming by my guide wanted to let me see this monastery and I thought it looks boring. But in the inside I could see the teachings of a monk to a novice and the building next to it is full of huge...More

Worth taking 20 minutes to visit this monastery with iconic oval windows built from teak and set on stilts. Small stupa with wall painting and hundreds of Buddhas set in tiny alcoves

This old wooden Monastery is sited with Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung just about 1 km north of Nyaungshwe. It used to have a golden ceiling and traces of it can still be seen. It is worth a trip to see both as they are so close...More

Interesting older teak wood structure, not as ornate as some others. It’s in the same compound as newer buildings but it’s worth a 15-30 minute stop if you are in this area.

Majestic historical building with nice windows and old teak wood interior. You definitely have to visit it.

Wall painting is 3D carving. Some unique theme e.g. gun holding foreigner. Very poorly maintained. Main building is teak and design unique. Rich history and culture. Need a guide for explanation.

We stopped here on our way from Heho to Inle and were delighted to find a simple teak design, with rare features like the oval windows. It's a working monastery and we were privileged to watch a class of novices at their lessons

An interesting monastery to visit on the way from Heho Airport to Inle Lake. Built of teak with rare oval windows with shutters. Beautifully clean, the usual Buddha statues and the tiniest ginger kittens wandering about.
