Have just come back from a morning at Mercury cooking school, and felt we had to write a review as we had so much fun. We started by being taken around the fresh food market in town, Thi Thi was so enthusiastic and showed us many different vegetables and spices that we had not seen nor tasted before. Anything you want to try she made it possible and explained their uses in her patient, caring manner, Even my husband who is not that keen on cooking LOVED the experience, so thank you ThI Thi maybe you have brought out his hidden culinary side. Our 15 yr old daughter also enjoyed the experience and will remember it for a long time. We were also lucky to have two other really great ladies in our cooking group. If you want to learn about Burmese food, culture and come away with an appreciation for it then this a must do whilst in Inle Lake.

I very much enjoyed the few hours I spent with Thithi, leant so much about local life, struggles and last but not least, the food. This experience is definitely one that comes to my mind when I think back to my amazing holiday in Myanmar! Book and support this local business, you will not regret it. ThiThi also supports her neighbours in any way she can, something we can all take an example of. I am grateful that I had the chance to visit ThiThi.

My wife and me joined the cooking class and we had a wonderful time with Ms Thi Thi. She showed us a menu and asked us to choose 1 main and 1 side dish. The off we go to the nearby market to buy the ingredients for the dishes.

While we were at the market, she explained the uses of various fresh vegetables, herbs and other produces which we have not seen before.

Then off to the cooking, preparing the ingredients and cooking the dishes. The dishes we had was the highlight of our visit to Myanmar.

I LOVED this cooking class! Thi Thi is really amazing. You pick what you want to cook from a menu and you go to a local market to get the food. She explains what the different foods are, what their purpose is and where it’s grown. And then you cook all of the food. You really get involved with all aspects of prepping and cooking (not just watching or things pre-prepared). Her English is really great and she answers all of your questions and does a great job of telling you what is going on. She’ll even adjust the spice level to your preferences. And add on top that the food is delicious!

Thi-Thi is very friendly and really good teacher, she and her two daughter taught us a lot about the Birmese kitchen and were very helpful.

We went for the afternoon/evening class so we couldn't do the market. She offered to do the market the next morning and she showed us around for over an hour and give us several things to taste as well. Awesome experience and would recommend it to everybody!

They are very flexible and you can choose what curry and salad you want to make and adjust in the any way you like.

Such a good cooking class! We could choose what we wanted to make out of a recipe book, each a salad and a curry plus an appetizer, a soup and a dessert. She takes her time to explain every thing and is very sweet. In the end you can eat everything at a cute dinner table, which is btw a whole lot of food!! Definitely recommend!

We loved the cooking class. At the market we could try many different things. The cooking was great fun and everything was explained very well. The food was delicious, and afterwards we got a little present and all the recipes. Everybody could choose one salad and one main that he wants to cook, there were also many vegetarian options. Actually, we cooked even more thant the two dishes per person. 100% recommended!

During my birthday in Myanmar, my boyfriend organized a very pleasant surprise taking me to Mercury Cooking Class! It was one of the top experience we had in Myanmar..we understood and learned many things about Burmese culture both during the market tour with Thi Thi and during the cooking class with Nge Nge.... the cooking class was clear (perfect english!), precise and clean and we were able to make recipes eliminating the coriander from traditional dishes as we are not lovers ;). At the end we ate all the delicious dishes prepared!! Absolutely take a half day to do this wonderful double experience (both in Burma and once you come back home when you can cook a wonderful Burmese dinner to your friends!!)

We booked a morning class last minute and Thi Thi could fit us in immediately. She picked us up from our hostel and we chose the dishes we wanted to cook from her book (you can choose 2 mains, 2 salads, an appetiser and a salad - just for 2 people!!) She then took us to the local market to buy ingredients for the recipes. It was so interesting and Thi Thi was really informative about all the local produce.

The kitchen area was really clean and lots of preparation had clearly gone into the morning. She guided us through each step, with the two of us working on different dishes at any one time. The food was all amazing and there was so much!! We had a fab lunch and the family atmosphere was so friendly.

We had mango for pudding and she gave us a present of turmeric and green tea to take home with us, along with the recipes. My sister and I would definitely, 100% recommend Mercury Cooking Class!
