This 40-seat theatre lays a claim to being at least one of the smallest theatres in the world, which gives it an intimacy which few can match. Restored as a fully operational theatre some years back.

The 'Smallest Theater' located in Vetriano (about 1/2 hour drive from the northern wall of Lucca) is worth a trip once you have seen all the major attractions in and around Lucca. Constructed over a hundred years ago and recently it under went a complete renovation, the theater is now hosting plays and operas. For your 5 euro entry fee - you get a wonderful 1/2 tour and oral presentation covering the history of the theater. Unfortunately, the guide, Christina only speaks Italian. Nevertheless she gives a 110%. The theater has roughly 60 seats since there are 2 balconies. All the seats have been donated - one by the son of Robert Kennedy. In the last renovation a dressing rooms suite was added underneath the theater. The place is very cozy, and in great shape, and is definitely worth the trip. It showcases what FAI has been able to do in Italy. FAI has been responsible for the restoration of over 25 properties in Italy and it has done a superb job at this theater. The season opened last week (end of September) and La Boheme is being performed in late October, 2014 jr
