First stop on local bus was Bazzano and the very best pastry shop ever just down the road from the station. Then another bus to Monteveglio to do the pilgrimage walk up the hill in the park. Another scenic ride on to Zocca and its lovely lookout over the Modena Appenines, 5Euro trattoria meals, and the museum which was closed... More

We were staying nearby and stumbled upon this museum on a dull day. I'm glad that we did! This part of Italy appears to be fairly prosperous now but it must have been really dirt poor in the not-too-distant past and the poorest of the people, so far as I can tell, lived on foods made out of sweet chestnuts,... More
