Join Vintage Aeroplane for a joyride like no other. Sensations of the wind in your hair, open skies above, the sounds and smells of that big round engine are all yours to enjoy! Fly a biplane, an authentic military trainer from the 1930s. For a day or forever, you will feel like an Aviator from a bygone era. Come and visit the Aviator Flying Museum at Pratello, a resort airfield between Pisa and Florence where we have located our Southern base for vintage flight (Avio Superfice Peccioli Pratello PI09). Watching in awe as the vintage biplane circled our Pratello hotel, we felt this was an experience that we just had to try for ourselves. We were not disappointed and came away from Tuscany with great memories with this experience being the highlight of this year's holiday.
Jon is a great host providing a detailed history of the planes and their restoration work. The flight itself is a wonderful experience, especially if you have never flown in small or vintage aircraft before. The views overlooking Peccioli and the surrounding areas are stunning.
My wife came along initially just as a spectator, but was easily persuaded to take a flight herself and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Jon is able to tune the experience to your choice, making it as smooth or exciting as you wish.
Thank you for a wonderful morning at the Aviator Flying Museum.

A beautifully kept and presented aeroplane in beautiful Tuscany. Double heaven.
I had the 20 minute taster flight and would love more of the plane and the place. Jon is highly professional and meticulous yet very informal and approachable. The aircraft are pristine.
The short time I had at Pratello was highly memorable. Definitely recommended.

Best flight ever.
Amazing experience.
Where do you get the chance to fly a Stearman in perfect shape,
in one of the most beautiful landscape on Earth.
U just feel the time has stopped in that hangar in Pratello.
John and his team, they are doing an incredible job on those airplanes.
with all the love, passion and attention for every small detail.
I don't know where else You can have such a great experience.
Special Thx to Martino's family,
That brought me there.
Lookin forward to make it soon again

While driving through the Tuscan countryside near Peccioli, we passed a small air strip and saw two beautifully restored vintage 1942 WWII plans outside of the hanger. On a whim, we drove in and met Jon, the owner and pilot of these amazing planes. By the next afternoon, I was soaring over the Tuscan countryside in an open air cockpit with Jon my pilot. It was the most exhilarating experience I have ever had in the 20 years travelling to Tuscany for holiday.
Jon is incredibly knowledgeable of the planes (he and his wife, Marie) do all of the restoration of these American planes and of course he offers private lessons and 1/2 hour flights (which I took). There is no better way to see Tuscany than from the air, and definitely a memorable one. If you are looking to do something that very few others can ever have the opportunity to do, this is it!
Check out their website for more information...Highly, highly recommended!

We went to see Pratello field since we were close by and I knew vintage aircfraft has been based there since a while and I coulnd't miss the chance! The welcome is great, Jon and Marie are a fabolous couple that makes everybody feel to be part of the team straight away. Tuscany is very well known all over the world but this specific area is still very wild and with great panoramic views, and this makes the time there running very fast since life is very easy and relaxed. Having said that whatelse can be more exciting then a 1942 boeing stearman parked in a quite grass strip? Of course go and fly with that awesome vintage machine over the awesome Pisa countryside!! We ended up the day having a nice dinner all together, the only bad thing is that also time flies so we had to head back home, but surely looking forward to go and enjoy this experience againg soon!

Jon gave a good explanation about the STEARMAN and the other planes in the hangar. Flying over Tuscany with a classic plane, what pilots wouldn't like that?
