Our tour guide took us here for a wine tasting. We started with a short tour during which we were given some history of the family/winery and information about the wines. Then we proceeded to the tasting (reds and whites). There was a little charcuterie board and some bread to sample along with the wine. We ended up buying a few bottles. Very friendly people, and a nice stop during our day of touring.

Loved our wine tasting at Brkić! The wines were delicious and we enjoyed chatting with Paško - one of the sons running the winery with his father. Their winery was originally founded in 1979 by their grandfather. They have a beautiful tasting room - I highly recommend visiting.

I visited the wine cellar as part of a group. The table was spread with delicious snacks that all go well with tasting wines. It was unfortunate for many in our group that we were not offered red wine as I think that more bottles would have been purchased if red was available to taste.
However, the two boys from the family were friendly albeit somewhat shy to use their English.
All in all if you are in the area I would say take a detour, participate in the basic tasting session and read about the history of the family in their excellent brochure.

Dear Val S, thank you for your review. Unfortunately, your tasting organizer wanted you to taste only 2 wines. I hope there will be an opportunity for you to taste all our wines, including red wines. Thank you for your visit, Best regards,

What an amazing gem! These are some of the best wines I’ve had. The 3rd generation wine maker was knowledgeable, and so passionate about what he is a part of. One of the best experiences I’ve had in my lifetime.

Brkic wines are produced using methods of biodynamic agriculture, and are excellent, especially Mjesecar. The tasting area of the wine cellar is cute, cozy and comfortable. The day I went we were greeted by some young men (some guys in the family it seemed?) who were nice, but seemed confused by our questions and inexperienced. But small wineries in Bosnia-Herzegovina are still figuring things out when it comes to the little details, so it didn't bother me. Perhaps if the owner(s) had been present it would have been easier. I got the wine I wanted and enjoyed myself at the winery, and am happy. :)

Dear Maria, Thank you for your comment. Your observations help us to be better. Unfortunately, in this period, the owner is busy in the vineyard and has little time for tasting with the guests. We are happy that you like our wine and that you were happy with us :)

This is true gem of Hercegovina wine road , only indigenuos varieties žilavka and blatina with minimum interventions( they’re on the verge of biodinamycs , tiny details ) different styles from fresh, sur lie, to King( wine is called Mjesečar- biodinamic gem).

Enjoy

If you are in region of Medjugorje, this one is MUST DO! Simply book it in advance, set with this nice family and try some of extra ordinary wines create by Josip. He was a youngest wine enealogist since Bosnian War ended, a+willing to change all approach to traditional way of making wines in Hercegovina. HE DID IT so his wines are amazingly good,

Vinarija Brkic is an excellent winery located in the little town called Citluk, near the religious town of Medjugorje, in the central south part of Bosnia&Herzegovina. The winery is very modern and the building is very beautiful, a fantastic place to taste some wines of the cellar.
When I came here, a boy, surely the son of the owners explained me the different wines of the cellar and show me the wine cellar, which is very good. Pitifully, he did not speak English, only Bosnian, but it was not a problem, because we could understand each other with pictures and writing words (it demonstrate that all can understand each other!). The experience was fantastic and very recommendable, and I learned a lot about the Bosnian pronunciation and writing. Aaaaah! And the wines are very good!
