A lovely stone castle, steeped in history- lovely gardens - staff more than helpful and informative. We chanced on Roscrea en route from Dublin to Ennis and would definitely recommend a visit to the Castle.

You can see lots of the castle witout paying for tour. The setting itself was impressive as were the gardens and we didn't really have time for a tour: visiting because of the Tom Russell Cowboy Opera "Rose of Roscrae (sic)"

Despite that the castle and relatively modern building is not as rich in contents as you would imagined, but the nicely organised exhibition and nice well informed tour guides adds a valuable touch to the visit that everyone benefited from.
