Interesting family-run operation
Jun 2021
Interesting family run olive oil producer, worth a visit but depending on what you want.

Pros:
- can get a mini tour of their production facilities, and see the process and machinery used to make olive oil, as well as the byproducts (very interesting!)
- can get a tour in English, from a member of the family
- family run operation, not a big faceless corporation
- good if you are driving from Europe and want to stock up on olive oil direct from a producer on your way home

Cons:
- machinery only runs Oct-Nov, after harvesting and when the olives are pressed for oil
- if you're looking for a big shop with lots of olive oil products, this is not the place for you. They sell three different types of olive oil only
- They aren't high end olive oil, so you're not going to be buying expensive olive oil for factory prices
- the factory is pretty small, and there's no tour of the olive groves themselves. So at most maybe half an hour, so don't take a big detour to get here

Do call ahead to see if they can accommodate you, as they accept visitors ad hoc and might not be there if you just turn up.

Aug 2019 • Family
Very friendly, tailored to age group visit
We learned about the olive oil making process and the Smillovich aka Millo family history, learning about the History of Istria.
We tasted the various oils and were happy to buy some to take home: best souvenirs possible!
Thanks for such a warm welcome and open sharing

Immaculate and "green" olive oil production by a lovely family!
Jul 2018 • Friends
On my third visit to Istria, I wanted to get a close look at how local olive oil was made, and I found Agro-Millo on TripAdvisor. It is a small farm/production mill near Buje, with the kind of family-run pride that makes it special and memorable. Pamela gave us a wonderful and informative tour of the facility and answered all our questions in excellent English before giving us taste of three types of oil, from which we selected a few bottles to take home. The olive oil is delicious! Definitely worth a stop on your visit to Istria. Call ahead and reserve a time convenient for the family to give a tour, and enjoy!

Inspiring
Jul 2018 • Family
This olive oil factory is owned and operated by two brothers and the children and children-in-law of one of the brothers. We met some of them and they were all very warmhearted

One of the children first gave us a tour inside the factory. Her English is very good - her native language is Italian. Besides explaining the current production process she also gave a good overview of the factory and the involvement of here grandfather and inhabitants of the village where she lives and works together with her family.

The production process was actually more complex than we expected and was explained with a lot of detail without making the story confusing.

It was inspiring to find out how this family persevered from the beginning in realizing their dream, given all the historical conflicts.

After the tour we went inside the house where the family lives to taste the 3 types of oils they produce. You can buy bottles of 25, 50 or 75 cl. (they also sell online)

In the meantime we have used one of the oils on our home made pizzas and salads and the taste was very good!

Highly recommended - not just for the olive oil production process but also to give you an opportunity to talk to local people about the history of the Istria.

One of the best olive oil
Aug 2017 • Family
Agro-Millo offers 3 different oil, which you can taste. Personally, I recommend Frantoio. With English and Italian you'll be able to understand the explanation.
The family running the business are very kind and helpful!
A must for the olive oil lovers...

Nice tour
Oct 2016 • Couples
Called ahead if we could come by. It was no problem. They have no official tour program or tour area. We got a personal tour trough their mill. The lady spoke in good english about their family mill and the process of making oil.

At the end we could taste some of the oils and bought a bottle of their new oil.
