Beautiful statue in a thought provoking situation. Very moving that the woman is looking back towards the village with a look of longing while the man is looking to the sea with an expression of trepidation. A fitting tribute to all those who were brave...More

All the information regarding The Clearances is available on line. Yet another example of the cheapness of life. One hopes that they found a better life & future in Canada.

Situated at the edge of the park above the harbour, and bordering the main road, this is a lovely, and very moving statue that commemorates an incredibly sad period of Scottish history. The plaque provides the necessary words, but the determined look of the man...More

I am a lover of history, but didn't really know about this sad part of history, even though I'm pretty sure I had ancestors who went through it. Go visit, learn about the Emigrants and the strength of the survivors. It's worth the trip.

A reminder of how fickle life was in days gone past. The woman turning to have a last look at her former home is very poignant. Easy parking there, but a few steps to climb to get there!

Well situated statue that is easily accessible from either the path from the bridge or a short walk from TImespan museum. It tells the story of the emigrants that made their way to the various colonies during the highland clearances and is a poignant reminder...More
