Built in the most beautiful and strategic location of the whole area, it is easily visible from all around, particularly along the Via Francigena (we saw it for the whole day walking before reaching it and for the whole day after as we walked further)....More

This ancient fort, dating back to the 1200-1300's, is built on the pinnacle of this part of Tuscany. As a result, you will have a 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside. There is a small cafe/bar outside the main entrance that serves pannini and...More

Before we climbed the tower we had the most wonderful grilled chicken lunch at the restaurant just as you enter the grounds of the tower. The tower has well placed handrails for ascending the many many stairs of the tower but the view from the...More

We visited the Fort at Radicofani, entry was €4 per adult which included a guide booklet in English. The site has been set up with plenty of information to tell you about the history of the fort. The views from the grounds and top of...More

Of all the forts we visited in Tuscany this was easily the best, made by the sumptuous 360 degree views from atop the reconstructed tower. The tower is high and the climb to the top is long has many steps, but there’s a chance to...More

Almost anywhere you are in the Val d’Orcia you can see the tower of the Fortezza looming above you. The reverse is true, when you are up there you can see for miles. Lots of fascinating history here, only snag is that it is not...More

A really old and lovingly restored fortress/castle absolutely steeped in history. It is visible from many towns in the area and as such, affords absolutely brilliant views of the Val d'Orcia. It is not for the faint hearted or the unfit as there are many...More

This to me is a must see if in Tuscany- the Fortress/Castle is incredibly preserved; the views unparalleled, and the Casa Tonietti Restaurant is a must-go-to on its own. It is the best restaurant with a view I have been to.
