Il parco unità d'Italia

A Magenta c'è un parco,intitolato all'Unità d'Italia,dove c'è anche,ma non solo,il monumento al generale Mac Mahon,vincitore della battaglia di Magenta del 1859,da cui si fa partire storicamente il percorso che porterà,appunto,all'unità italiana. Nel parco ci sono anche i cippi che ricordano i generali francesi Espinasse e Cler,caduti in battaglia.La prima ad entrare in Magenta fu la Legione Straniera francese,appoggiata dai Piemontesi e dagli zuavi. Gli austriaci ripiegarono e la strada verso Milano fu aperta.La vittoria di Magenta fu determinante per l'Unità.Al centro del Parco sorge l'ossario,inaugurato nel 1872,che contiene i resti di 4200 soldati di entrambi gli schieramenti.

Un francese che guidò la battaglia di Magenta

La seconda guerra d'indipendenza contro gli austriaci venne vinta da un esercito italo francese comandato da un maresciallo francese.
Questo monumento risale al 1895, eseguito dallo scultore Luigi Secchi.
Tutte le foto postate dagli altri recensori riguardano invece l'Ossario e monumento alla Battaglia di Magenta

A Magenta, un monumento ricorda l'eroe dell'epica battaglia Marie-Edme-Maurice Mac Mahon

Il Generale Mac Mahon fu l'artefice della vittoria nello scontro armato svoltosi in gran parte sul territorio magentino nel 1859.

In ricordo di quell'evento Napoleone III Bonaparte volle donargli il titolo di Duca di Magenta. e il bastone di Maresciallo.

Nel parco dell'Unità d'Italia figura anche un monumento celebrativo del Generale francese discendente di una antica famiglia di origine irlandese.

Un parco ai margini della città in una posizione non felicissima, stretto tra la ferrovia , strade trafficate brutti edifici.

Anche la manutenzione non mi è parsa particolarmente curata.
