In the heart of the old centre of Gravina, when everything else is closed (until 8pm) Gambrinus is alive and welcoming. Frequented mostly by locals this inexpensive Caffe/Bar/Restaurant caters for all tastes. Whereas most eating places in Gravina would not accept clients until 8pm the lovely people in Gambrinus were happy to make us a pizza to have with our drink before the magical hour of 8pm. This family run business has the atmosphere and friendliness that is essential for an Italian experience to remember. Tommy the oldest brother is world famous for his cocktails - ask for his award winning Italico or Mico.

This is a stand-out bar in Gravina. Tons of atmosphere, super-friendly staff, lovely pizza (and other stuff) and Tommy's cocktails. No idea what time it closes... seems never to. Live music some nights. Crazy decor. You have to love the southern Italians.

I loved the décor of the Gambrinus. It's a free spirit décor without a focal point. The eyes don't know where to rest, it's a hodgepodge of things new and old that really makes no sense, but somehow work well together and makes you feel good. The name Gambrinus is a legendary European culture hero celebrated as an icon of beer, brewing, joviality, and joie de vivre. Customers in this cafe' were convivial and cozy, I gather this is a hot spot in town. We expected to see a real Gambrinus at work but it was early morning when we visited it, we felt it was appropriate to order espresso, cappuccino and pastry. Everything we ordered was good and the group of Americans traveling with me through Puglia were very happy about the morning treats and the friendly welcome from the owners. Next time in Puglia we will try their cocktails and finger food in the evening. Valentina Interior Designer
