When you are at the Adriatic coast, definitely try to make a trip to Alta Murgia and beautiful cities around (especially Matera). It´s such a relax compared to coast zone full of tourists. But not only this makes the difference, it´s the nature itself which is quite impressive. It´s not so quaint like some national parks in the mountains, but it´s interesting, it´s very natural and it´s something you definitely don´t expect here. When you are in the summer around Bari or Lecce, everything is yellow or brown, here you see also so much green. Unfortunately, also here you meet what´s typical for the South Italy - garbage put in the nature, but it´s rather limited compared to the surroundings of big coastal cities. I guess that this place would take some popularity in the future, also thanks to Matera being the capital city of culture and I hope it will try to attract more tourists offering more possibilities for them, like biking tours etc.

We visited the national park as a peaceful family holiday, stayed in a masseria and enjoyed the peaceful environment. However, what it lacks is woodland and nature, it is so full of fields that space for true nature is limited. Nevertheless, it offers pictorial views on a nice day.
