About
Alpaca Alpaca is a small family run alpaca farm set in 11 acres situated on the outskirts of the beautiful historic town of Yarm, where we aim to raise happy, healthy alpacas with outstanding genetics. We moved to our little small holding in 2014 where we started with 6 chickens and our dog Siren. Since then our family has grown and we now have 37 alpacas, 3 crazy sheep and Jerry the pig.

I was bought an Alpaca sponsor / walking experience by my partner after following the Geronimo story and being quite upset by it. The place right at the bottom of Leven Bank and you may blink and miss the gate so be careful not to miss it. From the first minute we were greeted by enthusiastic volunteers who set our expectations from the off and made us feel at ease.
You walk around in a group with a male Alpaca, this will be explained at the time. Unfortunately they don't take well to being touched but they did not make me feel scared at all for my safety. The Alpacas are very well cared for and are a joy to walk around whilst learning about the breed from the tour guide. You have an opportunity to feed the females later on and the guide will take pictures for you on your phones if you would like them to do so.
Very nice grounds and it is money well spent. I learnt from the guide that during Covid there were real fears for the company survival and some animals had to be sold to make ends meet. Therefore every penny counts. Well done team.

We had such a great time.
You start the trip off with some health and safety, then allocated your alpaca, we had Allstar who is so good with kids! My daughter kept making a fuss of him and giving him strokes and he was so calm mannered.
We then went on a walk along the fields near the lake and the volunteers gave us a lot of interested knowledge about the animals. Once finished we went to return the males to the field and then we’re given a bucket full of carrots to feed the females. Just watching them running from the top of the field was beautiful.
The trip is then finished off with a quick quiz and then we had a look in the gift shop. It was a lovely afternoon and the staff are a credit to you.
We will definitely be returning

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to Alpaca Alpaca. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and so passionate about the Alpacas. Martin led the walk through the Leven valley and was so informative. I had the pleasure of walking Jarvis and I learnt so much about these lovely animals and the history of how Debbie started Alpaca Alpaca, all told in a fun sort of way (a natural storyteller).
These animals are so well looked after by the Team who work so hard. After the walk we had refreshments and a fun quiz, we met Jerry the pig and fed carrots to the Alpacas.
The Alpaca farm is a safe environment to visit and I had the most enjoyable afternoon and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Arrived to be greeted by friendly staff. We got a bit of a "scary" welcome talk (be aware the alpacas spit, kick , do not like being touched etc) then got an alpaca each. The alpacas seemed quite reluctant to come out of their field. Some of them were quite frisky but thankfully didn't kick or bite anyone throughout.
The experience itself was quite disappointing, we were expecting a good 45 minute gentle walk along the river, as this is how the experience listing made it sound. However, what you get is infact is a "walk" around a large field near a river and the road. We took a very, very, VERY slow walk around the field allowing the alpacas to literally stuff themselves full of grass, whilst the guide told us everything he knew about alpacas (this is got really quite tedious after a while, we weren't the only ones in the group to mention this).
Once we finally got back to the yard and alpacas put back in their little field, we got to feed another field full of alpacas some carrots. Which I guess was OK, bit more enjoyable than the walk. The carrots got scoffed in minutes so this didn't last too long.
Then we all washed our hands and got ushered into a outdoor area to do a quiz about the alpacas and "tested" on what we had been told by the guide on the "walk"... which was a bit of a strange thing to do in my opinion, wasn't very enjoyable but at least it was a sit down.
Lastly there was a little shop, inside a very small garden shed, selling things made from alpaca wool and other alpaca related items, even some items made from their own alpacas wool which was lovely. Unfortunately the items were quite expensive, but apparently this is because alpacas can only be sheered once a year (I learned that from the quiz -haha!).
Over all the alpacas look well looked after, staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, but the experience really could be a whole lot better and certainly the walk could of been better rather than just going around a field!
I pretty much feel we have just paid a load of money to drag an alpaca to a patch of grass in a field to have its dinner, not really how the experience was described and quite misleading. Disappointing and wouldn't rush back.

We had the BEST afternoon at Alpaca Alpaca. Spent an hour and a half walking the alpacas round the fields, taking photographs, followed by a drink and cake in the cafe and a little quiz. Well worth the price of the ticket! Staff were lovely and friendly and very knowledgeable about the alpaca. Took the time to answer everyone’s questions and speak to everyone individually about their alpaca. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Just been with my 3kids, 7,10 and 14 they all had a great day the guide is very informative, you are not rushed at any point. All the staff were polite and helpful.
The trouble with most places like this is the dreaded gift shop adding fortunes to your day uout especially when you have more than one child. However, here they have a gift shop and I bought things as little as £1.99 so won't break the bank.
I think my kids parting comments say it all. JESSIE 7 "daddy when are we coming back"
Dylan 10 "can we stay longer"
Josh 14 "I absolutely loved that"
Daddy 39 lol "we will be back very soon"

Booked this for our sons birthday, he had a fantastic time. The Alpaca Alpaca team were so knowledgeable and welcoming. The alpaca are very well kept and friendly. The guide took the kids and Alpaca on a tour of the Leven Valley, while we spent time chatting to the owner, she explained the history of the farm and also all about the day to day work involved in looking after the welfare of the animals and farm.
Looking for a gift with a difference? This is certainly worth visiting. Don't miss it!

Thank you to all of the team at Alpaca Alpaca for running some fantastic visits for our members. We are a small community group who arrange activities for children with disabilities and contacted Alpaca Alpaca to see if they could run some small group sessions for us. Debby was really happy to help and booked us in. All of the groups who visited fed back to us that they had a wonderful time walking the alpacas, feeding them and meeting some of the other animals that live on the farm and that it was an experience they would never forget. Some have also mentioned that they intend to book again directly because they enjoyed it so much. It's definitely worth booking if you're looking for an animal activity with a bit of a difference!

Bought the alpaca walking experience for a friend for Christmas. We had the beat time and would 100% recommend to anyone. There was a group of about 12 of us walking an alpaca each, the instructors are brilliant and tell you how to handle them and tell you all about them around the walk even throwing in some personal stories a bout their experiences with the alpacas and how they show their own characteristics. You also get to feed the females and are treated with a drink, cake and quiz at the end. It was a brilliant day and I was very impressed with all of the staff who were lovely and welcoming and definitely new their stuff!! Already looking to go back with other friends!

Hi, I am a spinner and weaver and wondered if you sell your fleeces once your alpacas are shorn and if so when would they be available and what would be the approximate cost per fleece.

Hi Deborah, i have a fair few fleeces here which have been shorn in May just gone, I have blanket fleeces of varying quality from 40-80 depending on the quality. What colour are you looking for?
