Once you climb onto the top of The Vadre the imagination and history takes over as you stand on the first castle ,defending this part of Wales.views across Conwy estuary to Anglesey ,make this an interesting diversion from the Welsh Coastal path passing through Deganwy below.

We parked bt All Saints Church - off All Saints Avenue - only car in car park on the weekday that we went. We went through the gate and turned left, as indicated by the signs. This path was quite overgrown and we came back via the path that leads straight ahead (away from the castle!). If you take this... More

Not a lot of castle left but it must have been very impressive at the time , but the views are worth the walk

Probably the best view in Wales - Snowdonia, Conwy Castle and the Conwy estuary. Well worth the climb. As a child I walked my dog here (45 years ago). Best and easiest access is via the twitten in Maes-y-Castell.

Walk is a bit steep for some and the walk up the hills either side of the castle will not be to everyone's cup of tea but worth it if you like a bit more of a trek.

Well maintained, great show put on by jousters. Friendly staff. Long walk if your child suddenly needs one of the toilets but I guess you can't out a toilet in a medieval ruined castle!

There are amazing views from all over this castle. There is an easy to follow guide which allows you to explore all the castle. The history of the castle is second to none and it allows you to work out what life was like in yester year. A very good well stocked and well priced shop.

It was a pleasent walk. fantastic views across the estuary you can see all the way to puffin island. You need to know your history before going there it makes it more interesting.

Deganwy Castle is a ruin that can be found just outside Llandudo, on two hills just by the Conwy Estuary. Little of the castle remains apart from a few walls, however it is easy to picture how it once was, taking into account the few remains and the unique geography. There are also excellent views from the top of the... More
