Well worth a trip. The location on the river is beautiful and the sense of history is fantastic. There's lots on info on the monks who lived there and how they lived.

Took the motor vessel MV Kestrel from the Round O Park to the island on a cool misty day in July. The commentary about the region was great and they identified any of the birdlife that we saw. We were also given some history of the buildings on the island. We enjoyed scrambling around the ruins, climbing to the upstairs... More

Devenish Island is reached by waterbus departing from the jetty just outside Enniskillen town centre on the Belleek/Donegal road. It's a covered boat but it's advisable to bring some rain gear as the Irish weather can be unpredictable. The journey takes about 20 minutes along Lough Erne and the total time takes approx 2 hours. On arrival on the island... More

Lovely trip to Devenish Island. A 45 minute stop on island which gives you time to read the information available in museum and to look at the significant ruins.

the trip on the kestrel out to the island is very informative and the guide injected a bit of humour into his presentation, and the island itself is quite picturesque, and you can make your way to the top of the tower

Bad experience. There was very little commentary on the outward visit- only some comments about the lock gates. On the way back no commentary at all . This was very disappointing as we had a German visitor with us ( and embarrassing for us) . We have done the same trip a few times with visitors and always had a very... More

Took the motor vessel MV Kestrel from the Round O Park to the island. This was very pleasant with commentary about the region and identified wildlife. The history of the buildings on the island was explained in enough detail to make the visit to them eagerly anticipated. The round tower was not open so that was a disappointment. The small... More

Took a boat trip from Enniskillen to Devenish Island- what a lovely day out. Commentary on the boat trip was good and beverages and snacks were available to purchase on board. The boat is enclosed but there is a small area to sit out at the back if you wish. We had an hour to spend on the island. Very... More

A beautiful island on lower lough Erne. Recommend to take the boat trip from the Round 'O' and finish your tour with a four course meal in the Killyhevlin Hotel.
