This was our second stay and we loved it again. The entire ambiance of walking around the castle grounds at our leisure was magical. The room was clean and spacious and the silence at night was amazing . We ate dinner that evening and the 3 course meal was excellent! Plenty of good wine and beer was available and enjoyed.
It was a little chilly after sunset but the staff built a fire in a pit in the courtyard and it made one dream of days of old.

Breakfast was excellent as well with a large selection meat, cheese, breads, and yogurts. We will be back for thirds for sure!!

After a short morning hike up from our caravan park, (Campingplatz 'Vogelsang') at the base of the hill, we were warmly greeted at the main gate by the host. Our kids, 4.5 and almost 7yrs, had a wonderful time exploring the castle which we had almost entirely to ourselves for the duration of our visit; It was a wonderful change from other more popular castles which are crammed shoulder to shoulder with sightseers. We returned two days later for an evening meal which proved to be a wonderful experience. There is no menu, everyone dining receives the same, three course meal. The children were catered for perfectly and I being a vegetarian, was also not disappointed. The food was simple yet hearty and packed with flavour, the pre-dessert schnapps went down a treat and dessert saw us full to the brim. We had two waiters, one being the host from our previous visit, they were both very warm, welcoming and attentive. There is ongoing renovations and restoration work going on, I would love to return one day to see it completed.

This medieval castle towers over a deep valley with stunning views from the twin towers, after a healthy climb. Technically it's a ruin, but there is enough of it left to convey the feeling of an actual castle.
The Sunday special entertainment certainly makes for a brilliant day out. There's a jester, there are knights fighting over a lady, there are artisans demonstrating their skills. It is geared at kids, but the adults will be entertained too, if only by the delicious food and drink and excellent atmosphere.

While not as breathtaking as nearby Burg Eltz or Cochem Castle, Ehrenburg is well worth your time. We fell upon the castle by happenstance when staying at a hostel in nearby Brodenbach. We enjoyed the hour long hike through the woods from Brodenbach village and were pleasantly surprised by the extent of the castle, the food on offer and the entertainment.

Every Sunday and holiday during the summer the castle hosts a mini medieval festival with good food, beer, live medieval music and even a "slap stick" knights combat show-which, while not nearly as good as what you get at the Kaltenberg Ritterspiel, will especially keep the young ones entertained.

Entrance fees are 7 Euros for adults on the fest days.

The castle hosts medieval dinners, something we plan on trying out this fall. The castle also has a hotel. The view from the tower is gorgeous.

Only negative is that they're is little in the way of information in English, but despite that Ehrenberg is highly recommended.

Ehrenburg Castle is really amazing, we have been many times, it’s a short walk from the carpark. The guided tour is great and informative. Can highly recommend it.

The castle was very busy with Halloween
I found the information in English was missing
The coffee and food was good but huge queues and badly organised
I did not walk around the castle as it didn’t appeal to me due to the lack of information
Walk to the castle was the best bit
Disappointing much better things to do In The area

A smaller castle, but with good views and a walk up that was not too taxing. Well restored and maintained.

We found this castle by seeing a sign after we toured Castle Thurant, it was a long narrow drive to the top and then a long walk down. You can reserve a room here and if you do, you are allowed to drive your car to the castle. To us, it was more of a ruin. We spent less than an hour there walking around. It was interesting but at the bottom of our list of castles along the Mosel and Rhine.

Saw this place last year from the road below and had to go back this year to try it!
Interesting castle, only ruins but enough to see how it was in the old days.
The Skywalk bridge is the icing on the cake with see through floor and it wobbles like crazy.
Well worth a look!
