Long walk to this one, but relaxing all the same
Sep 2019
A smaller castle, but with good views and a walk up that was not too taxing. Well restored and maintained.

Interesting if you have e share time
Sep 2019
We found this castle by seeing a sign after we toured Castle Thurant, it was a long narrow drive to the top and then a long walk down. You can reserve a room here and if you do, you are allowed to drive your car to the castle. To us, it was more of a ruin. We spent less than an hour there walking around. It was interesting but at the bottom of our list of castles along the Mosel and Rhine.

Awesome Skywalk
Aug 2019 • Friends
Saw this place last year from the road below and had to go back this year to try it!
Interesting castle, only ruins but enough to see how it was in the old days.
The Skywalk bridge is the icing on the cake with see through floor and it wobbles like crazy.
Well worth a look!

Well kept, good activities, friendly staff
May 2019 • Family
We stopped in at the end of a walk up the side of the mountain. It is very reasonably priced and there were lots of activities going on. The place is well maintained and the view from the top is breathtaking. It is really nicely thought out down to needing their own coins to buy food and drink which the kids loved!

Original layout, little information
May 2018 • Couples
Ehrenburg castle was erected around 1125 and destroyed by the French army in 1689.

Plus one : The fortress has a highly original layout, boasting a mighty fifteenth century ramp tower and a looming fourteenth century twin towered keep.

Plus two : Even in this battered state Ehrenburg castle still looks mighty impressive and commanding. The site breathes the atmosphere of days long gone and is highly picturesque.

Plus three : The views from the platform of the ramp tower and from atop the keep are equally impressive. You can see for many miles around.

Plus four : The lower court has a very charming terrace where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. The stronghold also houses a restaurant in an atmospheric neo knights hall and a small hotel.

Plus five : Ehrenburg castle is privately owned since 1992 and you can tell a dynamic management is putting a lot of effort into restoring the stronghold and bringing it to life. They often host special events such as animated visits focused on children (“Lebendige Burg”), sadly at present only in german.

Minus one : Sadly, little information is available. There is a rather summary guidebook, again available only in german. I encourage the management to fund additional archeological research and also provide guided tours / guidebooks for foreign visitors.

Minus two : Given the above and the fact that no living quarters have been preserved the tour of the castle can be completed within half an hour. Therefore a rather short stop.

Amazing castle and great fun
Aug 2017 • Couples
This medieval castle towers over a deep valley with stunning views from the twin towers, after a healthy climb. Technically it's a ruin, but there is enough of it left to convey the feeling of an actual castle.
The Sunday special entertainment certainly makes for a brilliant day out. There's a jester, there are knights fighting over a lady, there are artisans demonstrating their skills. It is geared at kids, but the adults will be entertained too, if only by the delicious food and drink and excellent atmosphere.

Renaissance Feel

I came here for a party with a large number of young family's. Not only were the kids entertained but there was enough space to eat, drink, play and explore. A very beautiful and well kept place with helpful staff dresses to the nines.
Over all a very fun and beautiful place to see.

Fantastic medieval castle experience
May 2017 • Family
We stayed in the hotel twice, in 1999 and in 2005. Both times we had a lot of fun. The food is reasonably good. The hotel rooms are OK. The best is, that you castle for yourself in the evening. Explore the castle and the tower with authentic tar torches in the middle of the night for your self. This is a memory you never forget. Make memories at Ehrenburg. I followed my mom who was biking there in the 1950ies.
