Nestled in the Jungle, Playa Avellana offers a unique Costa Rica experience. Beautiful beaches and wild life in abundance. From the birds singing or the monkeys reminding you, "this is their home", Playa Avellana is truely Pura Vida.

This beach is beautiful and quiet and great for surfing or boogie boarding. There are not many amenities at the beach and the road to get here is gravel with lots of big bumps and potholes. If you want a quiet beach to relax for...More

This is one of our most peaceful beach spots that we have enjoyed....ever. during our week here, we saw 3 boats from a distance, no water craft, no noise other than the waves and laughter of families on the beach.

This beach is beautiful! It is great for surfing -- or taking pictures or walking or marveling at the sunset. I did not see many people just swimming; not sure if it was a coincidence or because of the waves and number of surfers.

This might be my favorite beach... lots of surfers to entertain you. The only downfall was Lola's is closed on Mondays so it would be better to go another day or bring lots of water... there isn't any there.

Not sure about the Zip line. There is not much at Playa Avelenas. The airport is about 1 hour 45 mins away, and the roads are not all paved into the beach area. I would definitely stop for groceries on the way in, to... More
