Decent boat ride of the five lakes.
May 2019 • Couples
The most interesting part of the boat ride was the bridges and wild life. I had never seen a flock of common ants as large as the one flying over the lake. There must have been nearly a hundred birds that eat a kilogram of fish daily. Soon, there will be no fish in the lake for the fishermen to catch and provide to restaurants and consumers.

Gret place

This is a fantastic place to visit and we will be recommending it to friends and family. There are plentiful activities, and plenty of cycle routes, for every one.

A great after on the see (lake)
Jun 2018 • Friends
We were camping in our motorhome on the campsite "Spitzenort" just a couple of miles away. After seeing various brochures for the area we decide a visit to the lake was in order, and we weren't disappointed. We had a 2 hour boat ride around the lake, it was extremely hot, but we had a cool breeze all the time we were moving. We will try to visit Plon again.

Relaxed vacationing area
Aug 2016 • Family
This is a lovely lake. Largest in Northern Germany. Well suited for some family fun. The lake is clean and not very deep. Water temp is warm in the summer. Bug thing is canoeing. Make sure you rent a canoe and circle Prinzeninsel, then head for Plön, canoe through the city and use Stadtsee and Kleiner Plöner See back into Schwentine for the big lake again. Fun trip of 2.5 hours straight canoeing with lots of chances for a fun stop. Get a drink at Seeprinz in Plön or buy ice cream in the city while leaving you canoe in the harbor. On the Kleiner Plöner See you can canoe right up to a good fast food place. There is also a pleasure motor boat offering cruises. Have fun.

Beautiful lake area
Jun 2016
I come from here - I love this area - it is beautiful! It is good for people in all ages...you can walk along the lake, you can make a boat-trip (5-Seen-Fahrt), cycling, swimming, ...there are many lakes around and in Plön city there are some nice restaurants and cafés to stop by and have a break :-)

Great for a walk or cruise on the lake
May 2016 • Solo
I parked the car in a lay by near one of the ferry landings (down from the marine barracks) and dropped into a cafe next to the jetty for a curry wurst and beer to get me ready for a walk to Plon. The walk and views are scenic with the castle in the background - guess it took me about 40mins to get into town. There's a good choice of restaurants and cafes in Plon if you need refreshment before walking back. Decided to walk along the road on the return journey as it was quicker and stopped at a handy mini market shop as I saw it sold regional maps. You can cruise the lake on a passenger boat and I believe it takes in a few of the adjoining lakes. All very tranquil - just a pity it was a dull day.

Lovely sea
May 2016
Kayaked this beautiful sea on a sunny day in May, from the town of Plon. Lots of nice places to go to along the shore; small islands, lots of different birds, and only small boats. If you love water and have the time, use some hours here.

sunset view is so beautiful. Good for kayaking and canoeing. Also, in summers, must take ferry ride. It covers nearby beautiful places.

Just enjoy
Jul 2015 • Family
Just enjoy the scenary. Best get onto the water as else view and access is often limited by private properties. Do go sailing or canoeing. Once round the city on the Schwentine canoe track is about two hours. It gives a lovely view of the castle and the city. It really is a full circle so no logistics issues and you get to enjoy several interconnected lakes. Just rent a canoe and get on the lake(s). Sailors enjoy the big lake when a breeze is out.

It is really like a small switzerland, really breathtaking view. During summer and spring season, you can have a ferry ride which covers the nearby islands. It is good place for boating and canoeing, also for sail-boats. There are many biking trails nearby which are perfect for spending the vacation. I actually live here and I must say you should visit this place.
