The Chacchoben Ruins excursion from our Norwegian Getaway cruise was the highlight of our trip. We were met by Jole Perez and our driver Miguel, and taken on a wonder tour through history, and were shown how the Mayan culture is alive and well today. The tour included a stop for fresh pineapple, a wonderful hands-on tour of the Mayan... More

We were going on an excursion from our cruise ship, and decided to book Chacchoben ruins through tripadvisor (much cheaper than ship excursions). Tripadvisor set us up with a new company called Viator, which provided nice access to refreshments and a personalized experience to the 8 of us in who were in the group (as opposed to a 40 person... We booked the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins tour through ShoreExcursions.com. Kasi and Abel were wonderful. The ruins were very interesting and Kasi explained all the history. In addition, while traveling to and from the ruins, she was telling us about life there. We really enjoyed all of it. They provided water for us and Abel brought a cooler along in case... More

We went in the morning, so the weather wasn't too hot. I highly recommend wearing good hiking shoes since there is some climbing involved. I was surprised to see that you can actually go up some of the ruins. Each of the buildings were beautifully restored, and there are some beautiful views. We took a cab from the port there... More

My husband and I took an excursion from our Royal Caribbean cruise ship from the Costa Maya port with about an hour drive by bus to the ruins. The ruins were some of the best we've seen, and are a must-see for those who want to explore! The guide was so very knowledgeable and did an excellent job with the... More

Booked the Tour through Oceania Cruises, it was a bit on the expensive side, but who is interested in the Mayan Culture it is worth while. Bus ride was just under one hrs, lunch was included. Work on the Ruins is still going on with more History to discover in the future. Its flat walking but also with some steps... More

We got into a bus from Costa Maya cruise port. Bus guide was very informative and clearly understandable. The ruins were amazing. The pyramid structure you first see was used for sacrifices. The remainder of the ruins were for storag of valuables and foods for the very wealthy during that era of history. We were in the "Beverly Hills" of... More

Another hot, humid day. This is the morning we are trying to get to the Chacchoben ruins. Still no idea of the time we should go to meet the guides. We were up earlier than originally planned so we were ready to make it to the Toucan tours office by 8:15. This is where we assumed we were to go... More

We visited Chacchoben as part of an NCL excursion. The whole park is quite beautiful, with clear paths and plenty of shady spots to sit and rest. We were part of a group with a wheelchair bound person and they were able to go through the paths with only a few snags. The paths are bare dirt, so closed-toe, comfortable... More
