Uncrowded ruins and splendid jungle walk

We enjoyed Chacchoben very much. The ruins are cool but not spectacular like Chichen Itza or Uxmal. However, you have them all to yourself. On our walk to the castillo, we saw Yucatan Spider Monkeys in the trees and all kinds of awesome birds. This is a fun diversion if you are headed down to Bacalar. Worth 45 minutes. Cheap... More

Took this tour as part of a cruise. Daniel our tour guide was very educational and told us about many things that are popular in today's society that were started by the Myans. Worth every penny. Would highly recommend for families.

We booked this tour as a shore excursion with Royal Caribbean. My family agreed it was a great time! First you take a 55 minute bus ride to the ruins. It was interesting and informative. When you get to the ruins there are a few shops and restrooms. It is a short walk on a gravel road and you are... More

Recently visited this with my family (two teenagers included), and we all LOVED it. The grounds are truly breathtaking. We only spent about 1.5 hours on the grounds but we could have stayed several hours. I recommend that you go with Native Choice for your tour. You can book through them and ask for Rose & Meline as your guides... More

My wife and I visited the Chacchoben Ruins as part of a Royal Caribbean cruise last week. We were picked up at the port and driven to the ruins in large air-conditioned buses. During the drive, our tour guide provided a lot of information regarding Mayan history, and the local plant and animal life. Once there, our guide took us... More

We took a large family group of teens and adults from Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas this week to the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. This was a well executed excursion with large air conditioned buses for the hour trip to and from the ruins. Our guide, Lety, was very informative-- giving us background information on the area and the history... More

We booked a trip to the ruins with Native Choice (we were on a NCL cruise). First I would definitely recommend Native Choice for this tour and if you can get Ivan as your tour guide you are in luck! He was definitely the best tour guide we've ever had, He was so knowledgeable about the Mayan culture (historical and... More

I booked with Native Choice for this excursion and paid a deposit. My mistake entirely, as our ship did not dock at Costa Maya. Three weeks after the booking on my return home I sent an email at 9am requesting a refund. By 2pm the same day my deposit was back in my PayPal account. It was so refreshing to... More

The Chacchoben Ruins were astounding! It's a great walk through history! They even have some great shops set up so you can buy some awesome little souvenirs to take home with you! Get a tour guide for this experience though, so much history to take in at these ruins!

This was a very nice site. A little off the beaten path. So it was not crowded at all. Ezikial was our guide. He was very knowledgeable. The Howler Monkeys were an awesome bonus. We even saw a baby.
