Bunaken is simply underwater paradise. The huge value is an easy access from the town of Manado, that is serviced by many daily flights from Jakarta, Bali etc. and few weekly flights from Singapore. It takes only an hour boat ride from the harbor to get you to the island. It is deservedly popular with the divers, but the snorkeling... More

Bunaken is a small island with many places where you can snorkel. Most places are good, especially those at the north east of the island. You can snorkel right off the beach. However don't go to Alung Banua (south of the island) to snorkel. The corals there are all dead.

Tell the turtles all your cares. They look like they are listening while they snooze on the myriad colourful reefs. The opportunities for diving mean there is always somewhere no matter the weather. The variety of marine life and superb visibility makes this spot a dream dive destination.

On the way over by boat I saw a flying fish moving along side the boat and dolphins in the distance. The coral was amazing with a nice drop off to explore around the reef. I have been to Cozumel and Cancun and other islands in the Caribbean and this beats them hands down in the colors, number of fish,... More

Go to Lekuan 1,2,3 - amazing for snorkelers. You can see turtle, jellyfish (on bunaken timur), many species of clownfish, spotted boxfish, parrotfish, angelfish, triggerfish, blue starfish and many beautiful coral. Just like a park, colorful with very clear water.
