Noni from the Victory Hotel in Tentena arranged for transport to the remote Bada valley and also got us in touch with a very good local guide to visit the megalith sites. She was also very helpful in finding transport for our onward journey to Ampana and the Togean Islands. All in all, also because of the relaxed surroundings and spacious rooms, a highly recommended place to stay!

We had an amazing trip into Bada Valley with our amazing guide Petrus (torajapetrussinawan@yahoo.co.id, +62 853 4134 6483) and driver Pony. The drive into the valley was beautiful and we spotted a hornbill and lots of other flora on the way in and then the megaliths in the valley are truly spectacular and something to be seen. Each one of them is so unique both in their construction but also their location and the adventure it might take to see them! We really felt like we were in another world and time. Petrus also is an expert in the Tasier (primates) but unfortunately it was raining when we were going to see them and they were hiding!

We have spent 3 days in Tentena. Petrus, our guide, showed us around bada valley where we saw the megalithic statues. He also took us on a great jungle trip were we saw a lot of birds and other animals. We spotted a lot of hornbills and even the tarsier monkey ! We also saw a beautiful waterfall, had a great boat trip over the Poso lake and did many more.. If you are going to Tentena, make sure you have Petrus by your side. He has a lot of knowledge, you won’t regret ! +62 853-4134-6483

I visited Bada Valley with my friend, we were guided by Petrus Sinawan from Tentena, which is very knowledgable about the national park. I recommend you to connect with him or just find him on Facebook before planning your trip. The trip itself took a whole day, where we visited five the most prominent megaliths in around Bada Valley. There are some other great megaliths, but those are located deep in the jungle that we did not visit because we have limited time. Bada Valley as part of Lore Lindu National Park boasts the greatest collection of megaliths in Indonesia unmatched anywhere else. The number of collection is much larger compared to in other places such as Pagaralam. Overall, I think this place provides very good experiences to learn about pre-historic Indonesia.

We did a one day tour with Petrus Sinawan to see the megaliths, and had a wonderful day. Petrus speaks french really well and could explain a lot to us. We drove to Bada Valley and stopped at various spots (which we couldn't have found on our own), enjoyed some shorts walks in the rice fields, and a very good lunch in a local warung. Bada Valley is not the place to see wildlife (in particular Tarsiers - they are found around Lake Poso and the villages / forrest near Tentena) - but it was a great day out and very interesting to see the mysterious megaliths. We did a separate wildlife tour with Petrus to see wildlife, which was also amazing!

We were staying in Ue Datu Cottages in Tentena and our guide Petrus Sinawan was right on time 7AM sharp with his jeep to take us to Bada Valley. His English is perfect and he is very friendly. My wife and I really enjoyed having him as our guide. He took us to various Megalith, some of them had spectacular views, some of them hard to find. We went through lush green paddy fields to find some of them as well. Its a nice hike. We HIGHLY recommend to get a guide otherwise its going to be VERY hard to find these Megaliths. We got to see the largest one, Palindo, as well. The trip to Bada Valley is very scenic. At various points, clouds were passing through the roads and at one point we decided to have coffee on a roadside stall to enjoy the clouds. We wanted to pay for coffee but Petrus was generous enough to pay for our coffee as well. There are plenty of wildlife but hard to spot. Petrus spotted Sulawesi Hornbills for us and we stopped our car to see them. Its better if you can spend a night in Lore Lindu National Park (Bada Valley is part of it) area to enjoy the NP, Bada Valley and Megalith but since we were on a tight schedule we did the Bada Valley trip in one day, which is doable but tough.
Petrus Sinawan charged us IDR 1,650,000 ($124) which included car with driver, petrol, guide fees and lunch. He is born and brought up in this area, so he is local and knows everything.
The following day was Thanks Giving in Tentena and Petrus invited us to have Thanks Giving lunch with his friends. We rented a scooter to go get around in Tentena and Petrus gave us perfect directions to go to Pebete Ue restaurant owned by Jelni Jaleha who is also an English teacher at a school.
We enjoyed the Lore Lindu NP, Bada Valley Megalith trip specially cuz of our fantastic guide Petrus Sinawan. He was more of a friend than a guide. This is his contact number: +62 853 4134 6483. He has Whatsapp, so sending a message n calling is easy. I contacted him via email as well torajapetrussinawan@yahoo.co.id.

We booked a 3 day TOUR to the mysterious megalithes of the Bada Valley, through our Resort Dolidi Ndano Towale, at Lake Poso, Tentena. Bada Valley is south of Lore Lindu National Park and has some pretty impressive megalithes and jars that nobody seems to know ! Wooow !! You need a guide because the megalithes are still in their original location : some are in the ricefields (nice walks !), in the forest and even in the river. A recommended guide is DANIEL ARARO ; he speaks english very well, and even German + some Dutch. You can contact Daniel at :
Mobile : +62 852 41394716 Email : ararodaniel@gmail.com
You can also combine the megalithes with jungle tours in the park.

Bada Valley no doubt is a hidden gem in Sulawesi. We stayed overnight in the village. Our guide Petrus took us walking through the paddy fields to look for the mysterious megaliths scattered around the valley. Its interesting to see all these ancient human faces stone statues standing in the fields but you have no clue how they ended up there. Reminded me of the Moai statues in Easter Island.
The landscape of the valley is so so beautiful and relaxing too, covered with paddy fields and green hills. People you came across always greeted you with smiling faces. They love their places, you can feel the harmony around.
I would say Bada valley is a must visit place if you are travelling around Tentena. But you have to rent a car as its too remote. We joined a 2 days tour with Petrus as our guide. He is very knowledgable , friendly and a nature lover. Highly recommended :)
