This lovely moated castle is a good afternoon out for kids of all ages, we have taken 5 year olds and an 83 year old lady. Printed information about the castle is available in English to take with you on your explore around the site. Climb to the top of the castle, see out to sea and over to Jersey... More

Spent a bit of time at this lovely renovated Chateau dating back to the 12 century. Only costs 3 euros each to get in and parking is free. You can look in most of the chateau including where they used to press the apples to make their cider. We loved it and the kids loved exploring also. Well worth a... More

Fab old fort with good quality english guide to take around with you. Grounds, outbuildings with tapestry and then castle access all meant a fun trip and plenty of opportunities to brush up on your history of the area

The chateau fort (a mixture of castle and fortified Manor House) dates from the 11th century up to 17th century, so it's a mixture of thick walls, battlements (which you can walk along from towers, great views to the sea and Jersey on a good day), a moat, cider press, guard rooms etc and Renaissance rooms, with huge fireplaces and... We visited on the basis of reviews on Tripadvisor. However, we found a poorly organised venue, which had little to offer with no charm. Car parking was a nightmare! To the point we gave up on a first pass and moved on to Pirou beach, which is great on a warm day. We discovered on our second attempt that site... More

Stunning fortified chateau off the beaten track. A little crumbling around the edges but otherwise a real gem and worth a visit if you love history.

I love old castles and Chateau Fort de Pirou did not disappoint. It's a little off the beaten path and very much worth the time and effort it takes to get there. Its setting is very picturesque and lovely. Great, small grounds with multiple interesting outbuildings. The self-guided tour inside was interesting and the views from the top were very... More

This is a little gem, out of the way, but well worth a visit. The castle has been repaired and though not complete (probably it will never be) is one of the best Norman structures we have ever visited and gives a great perspective on life and times in this area. There is also a tapestry telling the fate of... More

This place was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday.from the moment you park up you can see this is going to be something special. We loved how clean and accessible the whole site is as well as being sympatheticly restored. Do go up on the ramparts and look at the wonderful undulating roof!
