About
The Museum of Bohemian Paradise was founded in 1886 as a regional museum; however, since the 1930s, it has specialised in precious stones and their processing (stone-cutting),which is a typical craft throughout the region. Here you can find a geology and mineralogy exhibition that will take you to the colourful world of minerals; examples of cut and engraved stones will show you the technology of stone processing and you will also be able to see historical jewels, followed by those that were created at international jewellers´ symposia. The underground Treasury features an historic collection of jewels, collected over time by the Turnov School of Applied Arts. We have also new expositions: Mountaineering, Gem Cutter's House, Luminescence.

the museum provides an excellent visual portrait of both the zoology, botany, geology, archaeology and history of the whole area that could be better understood for non-czech speakers if you come there well-equipped with english or german natural history of the area

Amber and garnet are both highlights of the museum, and you can buy original decorations in museum shop (as we did)! And enjoy the walk around city historic centre!

With my friend and mum we wonted visit the Turnov Muzeum with new mountaineers exposition but it will be open in fall, never mind the Gem stone exposion was also interesting with all the different colors and tipes of stone from all around the world. It was so interesting as we spend easy hour inside we were reading the information and didn´t move suddenly the photocell has turned light off so we were like in real cave. And some stones eaven luminescence that was cool. And at the end we tried to find Czech garnets and we were so lucky to find 4 pieses So we will be back.
