Welcome to Barking Horse Farm where we love our horses and train them with the gentle techniques of (Parelli) Natural Horsemanship. We would love to give you the best vacaton ever. We offer you trail rides on our fantastic horses from an hour, to a day, or even a week. Choose between staying at the farm and enjoying the rugged mountains, tropical forests, rushing waterfalls, pictuesque rivers, breathtaking views and quaint little towns that surround the farm or join us on one of our week long horseback riding treks that take you from the farm in the mountains all the way to the beach where you pass through different ecosystems every day. If you want to learn more about Natural Horsemanship we host (Parelli) Natural Horsemanship workshops through out the year.

Liz will take you on a journey through Costa Rica like you can't get anywhere else. The 5 day Trek I attended takes you from Puriscal to Playa Bejuco on horse back. The first couple of days you travel through the mountain tops taking in the breath taking scenery. The last 3 days you ride along a river bed where... More

I took part in the 6 day trek to the beach in February 2016 and it was an unique and wonderful experience. Liz is a wonderful, friendly person who organized the whole trip perfectly. We mostly stayed with locals, which made the trip less touristy and gave us the possibility to get to know real Costa Rican things. The horses... More

I stayed at Liz' farm as a volunteer for about 3 weeks in January and February and I absolutely enjoyed it. This place has an uncomparable atmosphere with all those lovely interesting people from all over the world living an alternative lifestyle together. Liz is a very inspiring person, there are few things she hasn't done in her life! During... More

We certainly enjoyed your energetic and outgoing nature during your stay at the farm and I'm glad to see how you are using the skills you learned here. I'll always remember your huge smile and the twinkle in your eyes while you were galloping bareback through the surf down miles of deserted beach on the last day of the trek... More

An excellent time was had by all on this trek to the Pacific... Living out of our saddlebags for 3.5 days was challenging but fun. GREAT FOOD & HOSPITALITY; definitely planning a return visit!

I had a wonderful time with Liz and everyone from the farm. Liz does a fantastic job of matching riders with horses😀. The view and be able to swim with the horses is a great experience you can't really do anywhere else. Everyone is a joy to be around.

This was the best vacation I've ever had. Liz does an incredible job in matching her horses with each person. Having a two day clinic with 3 star Parelli Professional Julia Bell was the perfect start. It gave us a chance to get to know our horses before setting out on the challenging trails. Liz also does a wonderful job... More

I so enjoyed my time with Liz and the great people at Barking Horse Farm. Marta's food is fabulous, the horses are all well-trained and of even temperament and the vibe and accommodations made me feel as if I was staying with old cherished friends. We went on 3 rides in the mountains nearby then travelled to the beach for... More
