Divertida estação de Ski! Com instrutores e pessoal de apoio amistoso e atencioso ! Vale muito a pena para aqueles que estão na região !

Ski resort fun! With instructors and friendly and helpful support staff! It is very worthwhile for those who are in the region!

Nice little ski resort. Avoid during the WE.
Jan 2020
Nice & small ski resort. Was there for 1 week. The pros is that it is only 2H drive from Barcelona the cons is that it is quite small and lift price are quite expensive (48€ for all the resort, 42 for la molina only). Weather was great. Got sunshine all the week. Avoid during the week end as it is super crowded.

Slopes good but town is ugly and dirty
Feb 2020 • Couples
Slopes and ski runs are great, good choice and length of runs and not too busy even on the weekends. Great choice for a few days but wouldn’t do a week.
The town however was very disappointing, filthy and ugly - no quaint ski village here. One expensive almost grocery store and only a few non appealing restaurants. Movement around the town to and from slopes and accommodation is disastrous with overcrowded buses that run only every 30 minutes during peak and every hour outside of that. If they are full you need to wait for the next one.

Great during week, but avoid weekends
Jan 2020
Great if you go during the week, but on weekends the place is absolutely mobbed so you will need to get an Alp2500 ticket and head up the Gondola, you may also have to get the Gondola down as the reds coming down at the end of a busy day are verging on black in places. It is easier from the Masella side.

During the week (presumably not Spanish or French School holidays) you will have the mountain to yourself. It is worth noting that the flatter runs are at the top, which can be exposed, and there are a lot of long steep (but wide) reds running down into the resort.

Mountain eating (Best place is Costa Rasa) is well short of the standards you may expect in Italy, but overall value is good.

Overall not a bad spot but I would recommend Baquiera over this place for the Pyrenees.

Worst sky experience.
Bad bus service. Left la Molina station before train arrived 10 min late. Came back 30 min later and told people to wait 1 hour as he went up empty and brought people down .
Return bus was scheduled each 30 min, but the 5:30 bus did not show up. Only at 6pm a bus left to go to the station. Driver claimed that only 1 bus was running, so he decided not to run each 30 min. It takes 6 min from station to slope.

Skitren pass is horrible. Tickets purchased online are not usable at stations. Machines would not print tickets for online purchases at the Sants and the sant Andreu Arenai station.
Even the counter staff at Reife stations do a lousy job. One said he could not print tickets for the next day in a very lazy way. The other printed a “bilieto “ that was worthless to enter the station the next day, let alone use on the bus and sky lift. Machines at Saint Andreu would not print train and lift tickets. I almost missed the train eventhough I arrived 30 min before departure. It was a mad house of people trying to buy/print tickets on machines running super slow.
Speaking about slow, the Reife app is worthless to sign up and check reservations or use as a mobile pass.

Lift pass not fully included on Skitren. They make you spend 1 euro to get a plastic card that works to open the lift gate. This should be part of the pass as without it one cannot use the pass value on the lift.

Train to LaMolina takes 150 min or 2.5 hours each way from sant Andreu station or 3 hours from center of Barcelona. Plus the bus if missed can waste another hour easily.
Fortunately a ski rental store owner was kind enough to give my group of 8 a ride to the slope.

Unless you take the train from sant Andreu at 6:30 am the next one is at 10:10 and you will only get 3 hours of ski by the time they shut down.

Don’t try to take the R3 train from the Sants station in Barcelona as it does not go to the sant Andreu station where the actual train that goes to la Molina leaves. Safest and fast way in Barcelona is to use metro line or bus to the Sant Andreu station.

Now for the worst part. Ski report indicated powder snow. In reality lots of ice. No active snow grooming at all during the whole ride.

In addition the slope safety staff were not very effective in preventing people from invading the slope near the lift area to ride on their own sledges. There were kids walking up and down that dangerous landing area for the lift.
There were lots of people playing under the lift chair pass. A very dangerous place to be as sticks do fall occasionally.

I am writing this while waiting on the train stopped at a station half way back towards Barcelona for more than 20 minutes.(RIPOLL).

Summer activities for bikers and hiking
Aug 2019
We came there after hearing about summer activities.
The mountain is full with bike routes and they are well organized in lifting bikes to these routes. You can also rent a (mountain) bike at site. We came with no desire for bikes.
but there is also what to do there without bikes.
there are two types of funicular working at the summer.
* A close one which takes you high in the mountain where you can hike about 30 minutes up (and down back) to a very nice point of view.
* A ski opened one which takes you to a different mountain area where you can hike down or just enjoy the peaceful area and go down using the ski funicular.
We took both and enjoyed are time there.
There is also a swimming pool at the site and a restaurant which we didn't use.
Prices are reasonable.

Great family-oriented ski station not far from Barcelona.
Jan 2019 • Family
La Molina is one of the oldest ski-resorts in Spain. It has a more family-oriented feel than other ski stations nearby and offers a lot of restaurants and hotels close to the ski slopes. It has a lot of green and blue runs, so it is very convenient for beginners; while it also offers many red and balck runs for the more experienced skier. The lift ticket is a bit cheaper than La Masella, but the snow conditions tend to be a bit worse. The vibe is not as upscale as other ski stations, and the station caters a mostly middle and upper-middle class crowd. Besides, it is one of the very few stations in Catalunya that offers summer activities,

Came here with a friend who is a snowboarding enthusiast. Rented the Skis for around 40 euro. Stayed on the beginner slope and had a lot of fun.

Great family skiing
Feb 2019 • Family
So finally, after years of discussion, we brought our kids skiing to this resort in Northern Spain, on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. Its about 2 hours in a car from Barcelona, or you can alternately get a train.
We stayed for 3 nights and had 3 days skiing – it was the kids favourite holiday ever. The resort is totally set up for young families, with the apres ski being very low key. It is an absolutely beautiful spot – now we were extremely lucky with the weather with the nights and early morning being well below zero, but clear blue skys and sunshine every day with very light wind.
The skiing is great too – there are a wide selection of green and blue slopes, with a good few nice reds and not so many blacks. You can combine your ski pass for the next resort over – La Masala – which we thought we were going to do, but in the end we just stayed in La Molina. We booked 3 private ski lessons for our kids and the progress they made in those 6 short hours was honestly superb.
I honestly cannot recommend the resort highly enough as an intro to skiing or just to have a lovely chilled out few days up the mountains.
