It is basically a King's abode he use to visit here and stay for a specific time of the year.
Well maintained, Ancient things kept inside. So many cultural haritage well stored.
Ticket was too costly when I visited not aware about the situation right now. However it is worth visiting and deserve your time and eye for details.
Beautiful views all around from windows of this Castle.

About 17 klms from manali, its a sheer waste of time. theres nothing to be seen as such because its just a heritage hotel and if people like to stay at such god-forsaken place its their choice. Food at the hotel restaurant is very average not even worth mentioning. going all the way and wasting almost the entire day for such a place is not recommended at all.

It is a 16th Century Mansion built with wood and stone .
It's a National Heritage Monument managed by Himachal Tourism.
They have a restaurant but we did not try that ,there is a small museum showcasing Himachali culture.
Many Bollywood movies like Jab we Met ,Maachis ,Tube light etc have been shot here.
It offers a picturesque view of Manali .
This is part of a Hotel ,one can opt to stay here .

A small castle that is now converted into a hotel and a restaurant. The palace architecture is beautiful and the view of the Kangra Valley from up here is absolutely gorgeous. There is also a small temple which forms part of the castle. It costs only 20 rupees.

The castle is old and wooden. While the views are gorgeous the museum is poorly maintained and there is not much to do here.
There’s a restaurant with these views and a courtyard to get some nice clicks. Not sure what they are doing with the entry fee though. Place has so much potential!

We had booked three rooms along with the royal suite which is a duplex with 4 beds. However since it is a bit on the corner we requested for a change and the staff promptly changed our rooms.
The stay in the castle is a experience and the staff of hptdc makes very good efforts to make it enjoyable. Heaters are provided by default unlike other places where they charge separately.
They have a nice restaurant where in you can get good food. I wish they had a option to book breakfast along with the room. However not a big deal since they have a restaurant.
The staff is very cordial and helpful. The view of the valley in the morning is simply breathtaking. being a place where many movies have been shot is a additional plus.
Its a wonderful place for taking pictures and creating memories.
Net net don't expect this as a five star hotel but a pretty good hotel with a great experience.

One must visit place from Manali . The wooden decors , old musical instruments are treat to eye . View of snow cladded mountains are not to miss. There is a restaurant and you can sip coffee at the balcony . Lodging facility is also there.

About the castle: The castle is an old wooden castle situated in naggar. which was once capital of kullu rajas. is made entirely of wood and stone and is a beauty to behold.
.
How is it as an attraction:
its about 22 kms from manali and is maintatined well. It is now a heritage hotel that is run by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) and also accesible to tourists by paying marginal fee! it is built on top of the mountain the view is breathtaking! the is beautiful wood and stone work done throughout the castle which will provide you with great photographs and there is a cafeteria inside as well! will take about an hour or so of your time!
.
how to reach:
you can take a cab from manali but they will charge you a lot my advice would be to rent a bike like i did and ride it to the castle the roads leading to the castle are nice and the view with the fresh cool air will lift your mood!
.
Tips:
1. the is beas river flowing nearby and also art gallery of nicholas roerich try to visit the gallery it has some marvelous artworks on show.
2.try to dress modestly as there are shrines inside the castle as well!
3.try and visit around month of march when there is snow and you will absolutely love it!
.
if you like the review please leave a thumbs up! cheers and have a great time :)

As an architectural and cultural heritage, this castle stood tall, facing panoramic and exotic view reminiscence of past proud history. But hindrance was being felt by the visitors freedom to move with the presence of occupants.

hello Harparkash G,
from manali the castle is not too far away, you have both options available from manali , private bus as well as rental bikes ..
But the bike will be best option if money is not an issue. have a great trip :)

Would Non-AC Volvo be a good option to travel to Manali from Delhi in the month of September / October..?
Written August 19, 2017
Many Volvo buses, all AC, best provider of all is Himachal Tourism (not Himachal State)
Written September 20, 2017
does it have safe parking for cars for people staying there
Written May 25, 2017
Yes there is a paid parking facility there, about less than 100 meters from castle. However if you go further to Nicholas Roerich art gallery then you have to park on road side, which are quite narrow as well.

seems HPTDC buses are not available on goibibo or makemytrip.. Is HRTC same as HPTDC
Thanks
Prashant
Written March 18, 2017
HRTC n HPTDC are separate govt undertakings. Both run buses. The latter mainly luxury tourist buses. To go to naggar castle you need to book a taxi.

Hi,
How comfortable is HPTDC Volvo (AC) bus from Delhi to Manali? I am travelling with my wife and kids
Written March 17, 2017
Hi Prashkaw,
whether you take HPTDC Volvo or any private volvo both are same. Volvo seats are comfortable with leg support unless you are travelling with your own vehicle. These buses are good option. They take around 11-12 hours and there will be two stoppages on the way for dinner and early morning Tea.
One cos about the volvo is their completely closed windows for those who feel uncomfortable while travelling in hilly areas.
I have traveled numerous times and in my opinion it is the best among available alternatives.
regards
